Please help me design a window seat beside a corner fireplace
Comments (28)Hi Annie, Thanks for your thoughts. Your opinion is valued. Just to clarify, the TV would be in a cabinet a bit like the one below, but with wood painted cabinet in a lighter colour. We are planning on a much smaller TV than pictured too. The electricity and other wires for the TV would go through the floor from the basement below (floor plugs). Powering the TV is not really a challenge, and nor is cord control with the right designed cabinet. [Contemporary Living Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2103) by Other Metro Photographers Elad Gonen As per running around the TV, that could be an issue, and maybe it is just plain awkward. My youngest is 8. In general I am striving for a practical design where some seating can see the fireplace and some the TV. We hope to rework a few other versions. Hopefully you will come back and let me know if you like any other other versions better. Is there anything else you dislike about the latest design after my clarification? Any other opinions on the 18:41 version posted today? Thanks for the help! Carol...See MoreStumped on a living room floor plan
Comments (46)Thank you for your comments. Beverly27 - I agree totally that there is no comparison between the two rugs. I was expecting some flaws, but the largest flaw was bigger than the size of a pencil eraser, with just foundation and no pile. I didn’t know if it could cause problems down the road, and couldn’t get it looked at before the return period was up. I’m still shopping and hope to find a rug similar to the first rug. Interesting about the tribes! zorroslw - Glad you like the planter. I like sectionals, but in my room the sectional would be in front of only part of the bow window. It might make things feel out of balance? That’s why I planned to use a sofa and chairs. (The price in the photo of the sofa was not the sale price; the sofa would be a few hundred dollars less). chijim - Thanks for the ideas from the Candice Olson room. Hopefully I might be able to find a picture of it in a book of hers that I have. This post was edited by Kellysar on Sun, Jan 11, 15 at 23:34...See Morelong, skinny living room/dining room
Comments (23)Yes Pink Peony, I know I asked for suggestions and loved all of yours!!! Eventually, I would love to work towards implementing a lot of what you suggested! But, on my budget I need to take baby steps. I ask for ideas to see my final ‘dream room’ and then keep the concept in mind so that anything I do stays in the direction of that goal. I do LOVE that colour scheme but, for now, I might just have to work with the furniture placement and perhaps buying ivory colour chairs to start. Then, later I can ‘toss’ the love seat from the window and replace with comfy chairs and perhaps then change the wall colour in the dining room and switch up the coffee table and wall art to match. Chalk paint might me a great idea for my existing side table cuz it really is a nice (antique!) table!...See MoreNeed help with long narrow open concept living room PLEASE!
Comments (9)It's gigantic. I'd be trying like hell to avoid that. I'd use the dining table in the dining room for a combo desk /office. I'd buy more flexibility.......comfortable flexibility. A tv can mount flat to the wall, With an IR repaeater, it needs no console beneath. The cable box can go anywhere. I'd get a nice deep and comfy 84 inch sofa, put a console with lamps behind. Add two super comfy chairs and ottomans. A nice generous, light and open cocktail table. Lie down! watch the tube! Put your feet up! Add a little ottoman for a perch at the cocktail table. People love to sit and reach a snack. Add a low table between the chairs at the fire......open and light. Ten x 14 rug to ground everything. ( dotted line ) Go set yourself up in the dining room, to work, and just clean up when you have guests !! No matter the sprawl, no more than three folks will ever sit on that beast of a sectional : ) Two chairs and a total of three ottoman plus at least two on a sofa............for gatherings gives you seven seats. A smashing piece of art over the fire too....See MoreKimberly Benson
