Lowes installed my doors. What a cluster of catastrophes, It started with their crew coming out to measure. Then they came back with the windows and doors that THEY measured and the doors were so much smaller than the openings that they looked ridiculous. The doors were Pella wood sliders, very nice, but too small for the openings. I begged them to make the doors bigger, not smaller, but they said they could not. Then they could not find trim to fit the doors, so they left the last trim they bought in my yard to be rained on. As they were preparing to leave, I asked what they were doing with the trim and they told me I had purchased it and I could do whatever I wanted. This was their 6th try at installing said trim, so they never came back. I called and went to the store in Simpsonville, SC every day for weeks. I contacted the CEO of Lowes (not the current one) and he told me Blaine (the fellow in charge of my special order at the store) told them that I had ordered smaller doors to save money! first of all, I begged to make the doors bigger and the larger doors were less money because they were standard size. Now fast forward a few years and the largest set of doors will not even open at all! I had Pella out to my home and they said the doors were installed wrong from the beginning and that they need to take the whole thing out and reinstall. When the doors were first completed I was told that they only needed to be adjusted and I was doing it wrong. Can I sue lowes? Really angry!

I know you are waiting, but I'm going to put in a vote for the Kichler Ralston. I thnk the very strong, square lines of your house are plenty of linear design -- something with curves has more interest and the hanging lantern compliments the iron scroll work on the door. I like the rectangular lanterns very much, but they accentuate the straight lines of the house and the door itself, making the scroll work on the door an odd man out. The hanging latern wirh some curve brings it together. I also like that last lantern your DH doesn't, but I don't think it is right for your house. I can't put my finger on why -- contemporary -- a little too simple or delicate? Looks like it would be better against stucco rather than all the brick lines. You said you have other projects to tackle, but even if you didn't, I think it is good to look and leave -- come back at least once or twice. That helps me weed out things I like but don't love for my use or for the long term.

Pivot door all glass will be the best choice for your modern house , chose the one with black aluminum frame that the one I picked for the modern house we’re planning to build soon with same garage door you have , it come in 6 feet wide so you don’t need side window and although they can customize it for you any size you wont , just google Pivot door in your state,l live in south florida the one we pick will cost us around 5000 $ , what a beautiful house you are building pleas if you can give me idea how much it will cost you by sq

COATS: I see on the floor plan that there is a closet in the office(?) If so, you could put a door in from the living room/dining room side and have that be your coat closet. Then you could get a shoe cabinet like this one https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-shoe-cabinet-with-2-compartments-dark-gray-stained-20381763/ from IKEA to have by the front door. Otherwise I’d look at getting a hall tree/cabinet like the previous poster mentioned. Floor plan: see pics. If it works to put the door in for coats then put the dining hutch on the wall opposite the dining table. And possibly a couple of display cabinets to go behind the table. If not, put the hutch behind the table and put the hall tree wall opposite the dining table. Recessed lights: I laughed that you laughed about recessed lighting. They are extremely common in US no matter what the style. I love the ones you found and would definitely go in that direction. Floor: Love the floor. Would have area rugs to define living and dining or at least the living space. Bay Window: would need to see a picture. I think there may be some other options. I would be nice to be able to accentuate it. (See pic) Interior Design: I like where you are headed. Crown Molding: YES. Just do a little research on how wide. You don’t want to skimp. It will make your ceiling feel taller. I would paint it white like the baseboards.
