Refacing dark oak to maple... question
Comments (4)Yup, painting the insides white is a real spirit lifter! I've painted nearly all the insides of my kitchen (those cupboards are gone) and bathroom cabinets. Just finished redoing all my closets- even going from a yellowed off-white to white in the closets made a huge difference. But going from dark brown (my cabinets were particle board) to white helped us 'make do' with these old cupboards for about 11 years- but all will be gone by the end of 2008 (I hope!) Ironically though, my new kitchen cupboards have a maple veneer interior- and my drawers are natural solid maple- but I love them, light enough I guess!...See MoreButler's Pantry, Skullery whatever you might call it….
Comments (23)Rocky, the counters are normal depth and the isle width from counter to counter is 41". I can definitely see something similar in your house! Kiwi, I saw some photos of you home on the building a house forum. It looks incredible!!! I cannot wait to see more pics. Regarding the faucet. I am having a hard time loving it as the sprayer does not have much pressure. My other faucet in the main kitchen's sprayer is great. I am wondering if it is a problem with the faucet itself?...See MoreQuestions about Rinnai Tankless Water Heater
Comments (11)Mounting the remote outside makes absolutely no sense. The purpose of the "remote" is to allow changing the temp setting at one (or more if there are multiple remotes) of the hot water usage locations inside the house. I typically see them mounted in the master bathroom. Tankless water heaters operate at best efficiency when the setpoint is AT the desired hot water temperature for a given task and only the hot water tap is run, for showering for example. I don't have a remote but my tankless is in a broom closet in my laundry room adjacent to the kitchen so is easily accessible for adjustment. I keep it set at 103°F as the normal temp (for showering) and raise it temporarily for other tasks such as handwashing dishes or laundry. Most people run a higher setpoint for "normal" use and perhaps would lower it for showering, thus having the remote in their bathroom....See MoreQuestions about scullery/butler's pantry
Comments (8)@bat2be. Thank you!!!! It's 9-10 steps to where the dw/sink would be. Looking at your pic, I think it is about the same distance, maybe even closer. Do you think that is too many? I'm definitely doing a pocket door! It is too cumbersome right now with the regular door. I'm hoping the pocket door can be 4 foot wide and mirror the aisle of the scullery when open. THe contractor doesn't think that we will be able to put a pocket door on the laundry room/bike room side because of structural issues. I am thinking of just leaving a doorway without a door there. Opposite this doorway in the laundry/bike room will be a 6 foot wide arcadia slider door, so I am hoping it will brighten the scullery up. I haven't started on the addition yet!!! The city returned the plans and wanted more information on mechanical stuff, etc.. I guess these are new requirements. I will post as soon as I can!!!...See MoreUser
