Finished Backsplash! Now paint the island???
Comments (24)Thank you so much for all your opinions!! And the kind compliments!! Wow, now I really don't know what I should do. Decorative paneling is a good thought, I wonder how hard it would be to match the stain. And while I think reupolstering the stools would be cute, my 3 young kids would have food stained on that fabric in no time. And those stools stare at you as you enter the kitchen so from a practical sense, being able to clean the "leather" is important. Maybe I will paint some posters in black, something light like tan or cream and the green/gray color to get a better picture of what it might look like. Oh and another brainstorm I had this evening was gel staining it......See MoreNearly Done U Kitchen w/pix (needs backsplash of course!)
Comments (15)Thank you all for your thoughts and support. The community here helped me pick my granite--I had one really long post with photos and had people give their opinions. Laura, I got it at a company called Cosmos; they are in several cities. Gemini, I love ABBS! Shorter to write, that's for sure. Mizinformation--I am rooting for your success! Our shelves weren't adjustable and given the number of other cabinets we needed, we opted to completely start over. Did you have those wonderful soffits to remove? We all had a turn with the Sawzall at least once. We did save a number of 2x4s from the soffits, and I have pix of my mother-in-law pulling nails out of them. B/S: I am leaning toward a light blue for the backsplash to pick up the color in the granite. I have seen some glass ones I like (kinda spendy for my budget) but now I'm stuck on what I'm doing with my shower. (I'd want all the tile done at the same time.)...See MoreSedna Granite is in...now what backsplash would you use?
Comments (32)Put me in the metallic camp. I was thinking a metallic tile, not too modern, but I think sheet stainless also works. I think that you do want something uniform that won't be jarring with the pattern of the granite, but I don't think it has to be white. Here's an image with some different metallic options pasted in. These are all metal laminates from Chemetal (real metal, just laminated on to a substrate). From left to right: Satin golden bronze Polished solid brass Satin smoked chrome Oiled bronze aluminum Brushed black aluminum Satin bronze aluminum Satin gold aluminum Brushed stainless steel My favorites are the golds and the bronze/browns, and I think very favorite is the satin bronze aluminum, which is a close match to your current wall color. I think that puts me and Marcolo almost on the same page....See MoreAdvice Needed on Kitchen Tile Back-Splash and LVT/LVP Flooring Color
Comments (5)Hi Chispa, House is a townhouse built in 1996, trying to modernize the look. As far as decorating style, I like modern/contemporary, nothing too funky. Something that would be cohesive with the rest of the kitchen, and bring the kitchen to life a little. It's very white right now....See Morejck910
