Comments (25)Hello all, 5 weeks later this is how things are doing. just a general view of the main part. and the aceratum (just kidding. 6-7 acers doesn't make an aceratum but it's fun thinking of it like that) 'Garnet', 'Katsura', 'Arakawa', 'Jerre Schwartz', 'Autumn Moon', 'Viridis', 'Orange Dream', Atropurpureum' close view of some new adittions under the shade of Cedrus libani (Acer palmatum 'Deshojo', Juniperus squamata 'Holger', Picea glauca 'Sander's Blue' Is this squamata 'Holger'??? and when I thought I decided on to what is the best color on a conifer, here came Abies nordmanianna 'Golden Spreader' with the almost "neon" shining colors to make me think again... 'Skylands' and it's brother Picea orientalis 'Early Gold' which I don't think it so 'early' given the fact that it is the latest bloomer I have along with my Sequoiadendron giganteum... Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Smaragd' on the path entrance. Pinus mugo 'Wintergold' with a pollen cone. and to finish with the yellow ones, one of my favorite Pseudotsuga menziesii 'Uwe's Golden' 'Rainbow's End'. Not much of a show this year, hoping for more next year or so... Abies koreana 'Kohout's Ice Breaker' along with Picea glauca 'Liliput' Abies koreana 'Bonsai Blue'. Lost some color over the winter. Abies lasiocarpa 'Compacta'. Lost a branch but overall seems vigorous. Pinus mugo 'Mughus' showing great variations... Picea pungens 'Glauca Globosa' with it's bigger brother 'Hoopsi' and last, one of my blooming rododendrons with Taxus baccata 'David' and Cedrus libani ssp atlantica 'Glauca' in the background. Regards, Fotis...See MoreIs it to late for me to re pot last years seedlings?
Comments (2)Thank you greenmanplants. I thought it would be OK. :-) I moved here (to Bellingham, WA the Western end of the Pacific North West) from Wenatchee (the middle of WA State) where gardening conditions are MUCh differnt. Over there you realy have to be carefull about when you re-pot and transplant stuff. To early and the frost gets it to late and it drys out no matter how carefull you are about watering. I realy love how easily you can transplant things over here and the almost non stop growing season. Asside from drownding a few plants untill I got acclimated to the climet and realising I can't grow the hot, dry sunloving plants here I realy love how easy it is to garden here. Take care, Penny...See MoreI need to thin out a few of last years seedlings

Comments (19)Here are some of my 3 & 4 year seedlings that I saved from seedlings I planted up back then. This is supposed to be an arabicum. Not sure what variety. This is a 3 year old obesum. I would have to run out and see what the cross is. This one is impressive. It is labeled an RCN arabicum. However, look how dark the caudex and stems are. I would think it is one of the black varieties. It is 4 years old so as it grows and matures it will be interesting to see more of the coloring, branching and perhaps some blooms. Maybe at that time one of the gurus will be able to identify it. Also, the leaves have a weird white/pink edging. (Jericson...any ideas what variety it might be? I don't believe it is truly as the seeds were labed an RCN...but then I could be wrong.) This is another arabicum seedling. The seeds were just labeled arabicum. I better quit. I have so many more of these seedlings but I do not want to bore everyone I will eventually post photos once they all begin to bloom....See MorePieter zone 7/8 B.C.
