Annz, It's a real log (goes through to the exterior) and there is another log in the left corner (can't see it very well). They are throughout the house. We kept the logs showing on the exterior of the house and they look fine. It's a mountain home. Before this reno, this house had heart redwood throughout and the logs blended in. We took out the redwood and are going to do plaster. The problem with the logs on the interior is that there is no way for them to look uniform up the entire wall. I don't think it's going to look good. Our contractor was thinking about building out the entire wall....I don't think I want to do that. Or, plaster and see what they look like... then possibly stain them? May need to just cover them with 3-sided box beams so they all look uniform. Thanks for your input!

A coastal cottage look might contain interior 4 1/4" flat casing on the two sides, with a horned-sill and 5" apron and head casing. All joinery is butt-jointed. That's about as simple as it gets, while also creating a traditional appearance. Your local bookstore or library will have an endless supply of photos found in the traditional home section of the magazine rack. Good luck!

Ok more info. Go to your ideabooks. Click on one. In upper right corner it says “select” and there are 3 dots ... Click on those dots. A menu will display. Click on “Ideabook settings”. That should bring up screen where you can slide button over to make that ideabook “private”. Then click “done” in upper right corner and you should see lock on ideabook when next displayed. Try it. Let me know if it works for you. There might be other ways but this seemed to work.

From all the renovations that I now see are going on, what to do intend to install as a floor covering and I presume you'll also be putting up gypse on the ceiling... Looks like a hight ceiling, do you know approximately how high?
