Help with confirming my choices please
Comments (5)Honestly, I would never look at those two fixtures and think they didn't go together. I would probably comment on the nice tub, but rarely do I focus on what the toilet looks like. Any port in a storm....See MoreDoes anyone else HATE their comfort height toilet?
Comments (137)I'm looking for more links Bowl-to-floor <= 15". We're a household of three 5ft 5in. people. We're renovating four bathrooms. Just ordered a Tushy Ottoman but we're really NOT happy that we literally cannot buy a high-quality toilet that's standard height. Here's the whole plan: 1. We're ordering the Kohler - Wellworth Classic: (14 1/2") for two of our bathrooms. 2. We have a nice Elongated Toto (17" height?!) and I'll be trying out the 7.5" Tushy Ottoman https://hellotushy.com/products/tushy-ottoman-toilet-stool with that. 3. And then... one of our bathrooms needs a corner standard-height toilet, and my current plan is to buy a separated High-tank toilet https://www.rensup.com/bathroom/high-tank-toilets and bowl separately. I may also check Etsy for toilet bowl makers. What has this world come to? What a drag. It is also annoying that everything is labeled "Right-height"... yeah, it's kind of offensive because the height change is marketed as a feature and so it's excluded from most website's filter bars! Since it's an additive-feature, you can't filter for the absence of "Right-height" or "ADA Compliant". It's like -- I feel like I've been in the specific set of meetings where someone has a brilliant, cost-savings idea of to unify on a single height. Brilliant mind (BM): "OK, get this, we can halve the number of products we have to produce that sit on the shelves!" Everyone else (EE): "Oh, how do we do it?!" BM: "We just pick one height!" EE: "*Contemplative silence* God. Yes. Brilliant... But... won't people be mad?" EE: "I mean, there are short people and kids..." BM: "No, no, no, we'll pick the accessible height and then market the change as a feature! This means we'll also get a competitive advantage over other toilet brands who aren't thinking about accessibility!" ~~~ *end scene* ~~~ My beef, TLDR: 1. Public toilets should be as accessible as possible. 2. Companies get to "win" by removing consumer choices. 3. I'm now googling for an artisan toilet bowl maker on Etsy. Good luck everyone. Comments (14)Our previous house's master bath was all in warm colors, almond/cranberry/olive tile, tons of varnished oak, golden olive and cranberry on the walls. I chose white for the fixtures and it looked so pretty and classic, it was not stark at all. (I could have paid a small fortune and gotten a clawfoot with the interior in something other than white, but I liked white, so what was the point?) I made sure to put a little bit of white trim tile in the shower so that the white was there too. I am not a fan at all of the bisques and off-whites, but that's just me, I'm very much a traditionalist! I echo the advice to sit on the toilets you're considering before selecting one, but that's because I go against the constant admonitions to just arbitrarily get the chair/universal/"comfort" height toilets. I absolutely HATED mine. I'm 5'2" with a long torso (okay, I'll be blunt, I'm built like a gorilla, thanks Dad!), and my feet just barely touched the floor! Oh, and wear flat shoes when you do the sit-down test. I didn't think to take my chunky clogs off, forgetting that they add 1.5" to my height - I'm normally in sock feet or flat slippers at home. Dumb-de-dumb-dumb-DUMB! DH doesn't care which height we have so it'll be conventional height for me. I plan on installing grab bars next to every loo anyway, and the tall friends can use those to hoist themselves up. ;-) Chelone, have you tried Zud for your rust stains? That's what Bathroom Machineries recommends for the really set-in rust marks on old fixtures. I've only had rust in rentals so I could ignore it. ;-)...See MoreRecommend a toilet for small bathroom?
Comments (14)While the bathroom isn't small, in and of itself, the sewer pipe is really close to the wall, so many toilets for us, would not fit in the back, or the top wouldn't sit well because the water closet was too close to the wall. We ended up with a Kohler Cimmaron with the sensor flush (won't recommend), the night light toilet seat (neat looking but batteries don't last) by but do like the no slam function of the seat. This is in a year old remodeled bathroom used by a now 18 year old young man and his brother, 215 pound wrestler when home from college. Not one clog. We put the Bancroft in our bathroom (old vintage looking with claw foot tub) and have never had a clog. Really like the way this one cleans and flushed. It seems a bit taller than the cimmaron comfort height. I didn't like it at all in the photos, but the plumbing house recommended it. I am so glad, because we love it. I think it is elongated and may come in round. I know the cimmaron is round bowl....See Moreiamtiramisu
