WW's Support Monday8/4~~Sunday8/10
Comments (10)My story, I joined when I worked at my last job. I was able to do lunch visits. I loved my leader, and though I lost slowly, I did ok. It's a very do-able eating plan. Then May of 2004 I quit that job. I was home for 4 months, remodeling house, etc. and didn't really stick to it. Since I was no longer working at that job, it was hard to get to that meeting location. I have meetings near my home but I said to myself, "Self, you'll never like any other leader as much as this leader". (I know, excuses excuses). So I also thought I could do it all on my own. Well without accountability and journaling, and support from friends in the group, I gained. Very very slowly but over the course of the last 27 months, I guess I gained an average of 1 lb a month. (about the same rate as I lost it originally). Amazing how it sneaks up! Anyway I went back to work 2 years ago this week. Tried to find a WW nearby but this job rarely allows me to get away for lunch, so I knew I would never stick to it. So a couple of weeks ago, an old family friend chatted me online, and said she joined in June, and has lost 15 lbs so far. I asked if I could go with her to her evening meeting and she was happy to have a WW buddy!!! So I joined up last Thursday. I am following the flexpoints plan. I have been doing great with the eating, not really hitting a lot of the 35 extra, except for on Labor Day (used a few for 'liquid refreshments') :-) I'll know more tommorrow when I go for my first WI! Oh by the way, another mom at my DD's school joined right about the time I left and has lost all her weight. She looks great. Well when I got to the meeting she was also going to this meeting! So two good friends, who are a lot of fun to be around, are both in my Thursday meeting! Used to - I did Monday's because I felt it kept me accountable over the weekend. But I also think Thur is good - you get a good boost of willpower heading into the weekend. Anyhow! hoping I'll see you in the lifetime circle again soon!!!!...See MoreA Thread of Gratitude
Comments (63)Happy Birthday, Rob! I've spent birthdays like that, too, both mine and my mom's. I'm grateful for Medicare...it has made looking after my parents' care and finances so much easier. I'm also grateful for means. Medicare is great, but my parents can also pay for the other "parts" as well as their long-term care that isn't covered. I'm also grateful that my dad has always kept meticulous records and maintained relationships with service people. This may sound awful, but I'm grateful that my mother had the flu just over a year ago. She ended up in the hospital with pneumonia as well. The doctor recommended rehab and recuperation before she went home with her caregiver. She went to the same rehab where my dad was already, and after a couple of months she recovered but moved directly to the memory care in the same building. It's been great for her, and for the rest of the family. It made the transitions much, much easier, especially on my mom....See MoreGratitude thread (4/15)
Comments (17)I am grateful that I went to a dermatologist who found that I can basal cell carcinoma and was able to remove it. My regular doctor did not notice it at all, and I had no idea that it was there either. I had my stitches taken out last week and it is healing well, which I am grateful for. I'm afraid now that I might have more carcinoma, but at least now I have a dermatologist who is going to take care of me. I heard him say to his assistant that he used to do mostly plastic surgery/Botox, etc., but then he decided that it was more important to cure people of skin cancer, and I am grateful for this. He does a very good job with his surgery, and so I am not worried about the scars, as he is very concerned with aesthetics....See MoreFriday Gratitude Thread
Comments (10)I'm grateful for my mother's care facility. Yesterday they hosted a tea for all the ladies and their daughters (and a son or two). It was so pretty, with floral teapots, every place setting had a Tiffany-blue box with a string of "pearls" inside. Of course, at lunch a couple of hours later Mom didn't eat much, but the CNA always gives her a nutrition drink after, which she enjoys. And when it was time to leave, an activity was starting with one of her favorite activity people, so I was able to simply leave. Goodbye is very, very hard for Mom. blfenton, it was the best move that could have happened. It's too bad Mom wasn't the one making the decision. She could have had so much fun (and we would all have been less stressed) had she done it when she was 90. Things happened pretty quickly after she turned 91. I'm glad your MIL is considering it, and I hope she makes the move. Everyone I know who has done so, is glad they did, and most wish they'd done it sooner....See Morealways1stepbehind
