Help! Curb appeal for brick ranch
Comments (11)The first and foremost change I'd make it to widen the approach apron that lead to the entrance. Presently, it looks severely pinched, which translates to less welcoming. If there was a way to add a small tree to the left side, that would help integrate the house with its surroundings, and make it look less like an 'extension' of the neighbor's house. Beyond that, add groundcover instead of desert-like rocks, and a few more plants that includes some seasonal color. Be careful to maintain the existing shrubs within their space. Otherwise, there'll be a renovation afoot that includes them. (That I don't include the climbing rose over the arch does not mean I'm against it. I'm for it.) I would vote for the pediment and trim being all one color ... that is not dark brown....See MoreCurb Appeal - Modernize a 70's brick ranch
Comments (3)What we can see is that the shrubs (shape, size location) seem to be random and for no particular purpose. Other than that the pictures are too far away or too limited in scope to well explain the foundation planting. If you'd stay in line with the front door, but close the distance by about half (of that shown in the last picture) and take a series of slightly overlapping pictures that show from side lot line to side lot line, then we could see better what is there....See More1956 Red Brick Ranch BORING curb appeal

Comments (15)Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I see some great ideas that I'd implement if I were living here but aren't necessarily feasible given the circumstances. We'll move forward with seasonal (fall) landscaping, sealing the drive, and finishing the railing. The doors have actually been painted. We could repaint them but given how subjective paint colors are, I'd rather allocate the funds elsewhere. Possibly a hanging sign or other decor to complement the new landscaping. Again, thanks for the suggestions! The Houzz forum never fails to provide great feedback....See Morechloebud
