God saw Adam in the garden morose and brooding. He asked what was wrong and Adam replied that he was bored and lonely with no one to talk to.

God suggested that he make a woman. This woman would cook and clean and make a lovely home for them. She'd never complain or nag him to do chores. Everything he said and did would be met with enthusiasm and appreciation.

She would bear his children and never ask him to get up in the middle of the night to feed them, nor would he need to tend to them or discipline them.

Adam was amazed and asked how much this woman would cost.

God said "an arm and a leg."

Adam countered with "what do I get for a rib?"

that second post wasn't there either when I looked the first time. Raven you are right it did melt my heart. Susan I would love to find him in my house. Kitty that is really funny. I love all of them today. I have to go and start decorating now that I found a new way to do it, and then watch hoarders.

ravencajun's link reminded me of this story of Cleo the Great Dane who recently gave birth to 19 puppies. My understanding is that only 17 survived

That Dane is amazing. I can't imagine that many babies! I had to hand feed one of mine from 1 week old. And that was a full time job! The mother decided to move the litter from the nice whelping box to a place with no room. She ended up laying on the babies and killed all but the one I took in. But my baby ended up being huge! Over a hundred lbs and lived 13 years.
