What to do about broken glass

We bought our house about 4 years ago. At the time nearly the entire yard got turned over and a large amount of glass was turned up. I spent FOREVER cleaning it all up.

Since then, every spring the yard around the house is absolutely covered in shards of glass that has worked its way up during the winter. It is never ending and my wits are not.

Does anyone have any tips on ways to make the job faster (raking is NOT effective), or suggestions on what I can do?

I've considered laying down sod (will this even work?), adding gravel around the perimeter of the house (not sure that will work, also maintenance nightmare that probably is no better than all the glass, though less dangerous), and most recently I have been fantasizing about covering the entire outer perimeter out ten feet with cement!!

Excavating it all and filling with clean fill is way too expensive (and who knows how effective, we found glass enmeshed in the roots of trees that we removed).

HELP!
