Help me with my entry landscaping :) Please!
Comments (4)I would get rid of the big bushes sweeping into the entry area. They make it seem confined instead of welcoming. As those shrubs run along the foundation, they should be trimmed level instead of sloped in order to provide a look of stability and support for the house. Getting them to do that might require changing the ones nearest to the walk to other species as well as adjusting the trimming. Instead of the mulch edging, you might consider widening it a bit and using a groundcover of some sort that could tie elements in the yard together. The general condition of the grass needs to be greatly improved as it impacts the entire scene. Some annuals/perennials/seasonal color at each of the entrance that are not too tall would seem welcoming. The usable space at the driveway seems pinched. A person getting out of the white car must cling to it in order to avoid stepping into the dirt. Likewise, the walkway looks a little skimpy relative to the house and the entrance opening. Filling in the planter space with concrete would solve these problems. If the entire walk was done of brick it would look nicer. A much cheaper retrofit would be brick colored paint (similar or matching your existing stoop....See MoreFront entry landscape needs your help please!
Comments (6)Here are a few ideas-- 1.Widen the walkway with bricks on either side that match the house and take out the grass from between the walk and house and make it part of the bed. 2.Have all plants in front of the windows be lower that the windows. Go to a nursery and look at what is available that you like. Ground cover in front of the shrubs and annuals or something very short in front of the stoop. Matching planters on the stoop on either side of the door. 3.Black shutters on the windows on the brick end of the house would help unify both 'parts' of the house....See MoreHelp Landscaping Front Entry of Mid Century Modern Home
Comments (6)I would keep the deck, your window layout may look a bit weird without it there. My eye didn't go to your front door immediately, so I would put plants along your new sidewalk. Since it seems you get a lot of shade (and I don't know where you live), I would ask the local gardening store what may look good and would be green year round. Boxwoods get pretty big but they are a hearty plant. I would also check out Home & Garden online, they have some great ideas for pathway planting for both annuals and perennials. I would edge the walkway with plants, put two tall pots to flank the front door and I would also consider hanging some ferns or other greenery under your deck....See MoreNeed help with a small entry way. Comments (7)I don't mind the table and mirror and can't really think of anything besides art that would fit on that wall. Can't see the table details well but could it be painted? How about red to match your lovely door? What would say "fresh and cozy" to you for that space? Have you thought of a new light fixture? A runner and a larger rug in the entrance could look good. I don't find the clock visible from the door to be welcoming so I'd be tempted to remove it....See MoreHU-6285801
