Help with furniture placement

We need help with furniture placement and also what type of seating to put in this room. This is our living room/family room and has a dining room attached to it. We are facing the following issues

1. Our front door opens directly into this living room. There is

no landing area.

2. There is a fireplace and a separate built in for TV, so essentially 2 focal points in the room.

3. Then there is a door opening from the side yard right between the fireplace and the TV.

Below is what we have right now, but its not working for us.

We are just not sure what placement of sofas or any seating would work here. I have attached a picture. would appreciate suggestions /idea. Many Thanks in advance.

Do you have to use the built in for the TV? If not using that is an option, then you could put TV above fireplace or next to in on a stand and the fireplace wall becomes your focal point, face the furniture toward that. If the room will allow traffic to pass from the door behind the furniture I think that would be ideal, but if now then allow pass through space. The couch you have could work in this setting, however you would want at least one chair to place facing the fireplace on the non L side of the couch.

The challenge is that the wall next to the fireplace faces our entry door and it being a very small room , that feels awkward. Currently we have our TV is on a stand in the built in.

DRAW the entire room to scale at 1/4 inch to one inch. Add the windows, openings et. Put inches to all of everything. : ) You don't need a "program". A 25 foot tape measure, graph paper and a pencil and a friend..........works just fine. Get busy or no help of a worthwhile nature will be forthcoming.

Well, you have two arrangement options with the two sofas and two chairs. You can switch them up with the seasons, tweaking your accessories, rug, drapes for a nice change between warm an cool times of the year. Be sure you don't oversize the pieces and make the room look crowded. Scale will be important; avoid big, puffy seating.

Super cool room!! I think you need to rework the corner where the tv is - do you have a dry sink that is a bit bigger and taller than the table you are currently using for the tv? Put the tv where the tall cabinet is, and then fiddle with chair placement. The one chair will end up being the hot seat when the wood stove is burning, it needs to be farther away. Your idea of less bulky chairs is a good one. It’s a great room, and having a cozy area by the fire is a good one.

The way the furniture is pictured creates a box that impedes traffic flow. Put a sofa against the window on the left wall. Then two chairs perpendicular to each other on the corner where the 7 A-7 circle is on the drawing. The dimensions shown aren't sufficient for me to be able to tell you how large the sofa can be, but get something small so that you have room for at least one end table in the corner. You should have room for some type of coffee table as well. If he needs a TV, hang it on the wall next to the window that is next to the door on the right wall. Make sure not to hang it too high - this is a common error.
