Agony of 1 Paint Color for Whole House is Over. The Winner is...
Comments (17)Have you ever thought of adding trim to the drywall above your entry? You could also trim out the drywall around the door entering into that living room. If you added a sort of boxed out area above the doors they'd have more presence and be better proportioned. We did that in our house, also a new build, and boy what a difference it makes. You could keep it simple with a couple picture frame moldings painted white to "fake" extend the trim or go very ornate with fluted sidepieces. It really helps to add interest to a two story foyer....See MoreWarm white or gray whole house paint color (new construction) - HELP!
Comments (32)@funcolors wow, you might be the color angel I’ve been needing as I drive myself crazy with whites! We’re repainting all interior doors and trim (prior owners left 3 trim colors, some doors that don’t match frames, etc), so we’re looking for a nice clean white. we have BM mascarpone in our family room and love it, so had planned to expand that through the open concept downstairs as well as stairway. will simply white read too stark against mascarpone? In some areas it seems to a bit, and in bright areas it doesn’t at all. We want to be consistent through the house (and my husband doesn’t like idea of mascarpone on the doors and trim and wants a truer white) , and have ultra pure white in 2 kid rooms (their choice!), and simply white is a huge improvement over the trim and doors there now, which look almost brown in comparison. Basically my Q is: Will we regret Simply White as too stark against creamy, dreamy mascarpone? Or worse, will they clash or look like we failed in an attempt to match? thanks for any help! :)...See Morewhole house paint color and bedroom paint color
Comments (13)You’ll have to see what works with your preferences and your house. We went through a lot of white and gray samples and ended up with Sw passive for the house (which I looove) and Zurich in the kitchen only (because I wanted more warmth on the kitchen walls.) Well, ended up loving Zurich so much that now I’m repainting all my house in Zurich.. in our space it looks really velvet-y and not too bright nor to dull.. one bedroom will be Sw white flour (lighter white) is all and another is already sw light French gray. Best of luck with your project. Let us know what you end up with!...See MoreLight gray paint with blue undertones
Comments (10)Definitely take a tile sample to the paint store, but after you pull some chips, look at the colors in natural light. They have LED or florescent lighting in paint stores that is unlikely to be similar to the light in your home. Also look at the chips on a piece of copier paper so you're not distracted by a background color. Then get samples from Samplize.com or from the paint store to view in the light in your house next to your floors and anything else the wall color will be next to. I also use Simply White for trim so I think it's a good trim color. Gray-blues are going to be cool colors, so try to lean warm when you're choosing. You might be better off just using Simply White like the rest of your house....See Morejrbwalley
