happy - definitely don't need MORE room in this bathroom - trying to figure out a better plan with a smaller vanity. I prefer a vanity over a pedestal - need room to store stuff, that's for sure. sweeby, what are ceiling breaks?? Never heard that term before. I'm sure if I go to the library I'll find books that probably have a layout of this kind in it for ideas, but would love to find someone who's dealt with this before and what they've done. You've given some great ideas to look in to. The half wall, between the toilet and the vanity is definitely an option I'll consider. Possibly a door between the toilet/shower and the vanity may be good too. Oh, that floor, it's linoleum, or something like it - coming up in areas - very ugly!!!! ashleysf, as I mentioned above, I think your idea of a door would be good. I don't think a pocket door would go, but when I go tomorrow to look at the house again I'll definitely see if it's an option - I would think a regular door could easily go there, but honestly, I can't remember for sure. I'd like to end the vanity where the 2nd outlet is on that wall (see pic) I think that's long enough. In my current guest bathroom I have a tall floor to almost ceiling cabinet where I store towels and other bathroom related items. It could be a consideration instead of using the existing closet and possibly do something else with that closet area, as I did with my master bathroom linen closet - it's all shelving with decorative stuff on it (when it's clean that is, otherwise, it seems to have become a catch-all!) Any other ideas, as always, are always appreciated and taken in to consideration.

You'll need to decide if those three minutes of teeth-brushing at night are worth giving up an extra set of drawers and counter space with a double sink vanity. I am doing the opposite--switching from a 60" vanity to a single sink. Your current vanity has only two drawers. A new vanity of the same size would have all drawers. You want to be sure that you maximize your drawers in whatever style and size you choose. Don't waste vanity space on extra trim and large sink bases like in the vanities in your Ideabook. In the vanity you posted here, the drawers do not go all the way to the counter. You want a top drawer so you're not bending down to reach your toothpaste. The style is fine but the wood color is very red and that is a limiting color. Your house was probably built in the 50s or 60s. You need to keep the remodel in line with the bones of the house. You can't do ornate Mediterranean or ultra contemporary. Your vanity is not viewed straight on so a lot of those flourishes go to waste. My home is similar but built in 1999 with oak cabinetry and 4" white square tile countertops. All the molding and doors are traditional so I try to make traditional choices; however, it's a modest home, so I think of my style as casual traditional, not rigid traditional. Two rooms down and one to go, the master bath. I would have the linen closet rebuilt to match the vanity. If you have a Home Depot or Lowe's available, go see what they can do in their semi-custom cabinet lines. I bought a Kraftmaid vanity from HD for my guest bath and was able to pick out type of wood, stain, drawer configuration, door style, and side trim and valance style. How wide is the linen closet?

Sonia might still make their narrow depth vanities. FWIW, a local guy made ours, modeled after their Europa (?) style, but he made them taller (36”). Not only do we find the taller height more comfortable, but the extra space allowed for taller drawers and more storage.

I like option "B", with some possible tweaks (some of which may have already been mentioned by others): 1. Recess a medicine cabinet above the sink. I did this three years ago and absolutely love the medicine cabinet we ended up with, Kohler, with mirror both inside and out, plus an adjustable magnifying mirror. If I had to renovate a future bathroom, I'd pick this same cabinet again in a heartbeat. Kohler Mirrored Medicine Cabinet 2. It looks like you may end up with several inches of space in the upper left hand corner between the wall and the end of the tub. A. See if it is enough for a narrow storage space - maybe something can fit in there like a 6" pullout, which can be great for storing a variety of personal hygiene items - shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, etc. Look at some kitchen cabinets or rev-a-shalf items for possible fits. Here's an example: Using Narrow spaces Another option would be to use that space to stack rolled-up towels and similar linens. B. Another option would be to use that space for storage from the inside of the tub, as in a deeply recessed niche for the usual assortment of bathing products. 3. Consider putting in partially recessed shelving or cabinetry above the radiator for additional storage. Depending on your decor and budget, you can be pretty creative with something like this wall system, and it give you the option to easily adjust it as your needs change in the future: Kerf modular adjustable wall system 4. Don't forget to consider storage above the door frame, and behind the door itself. You can put a couple of towel racks on the back of the door. And if you have a wall towards the back of the tub, you can add a couple of hooks on the wall partitioning the tub from the narrow storage space, to hang a bathrobe or towel.
