We had Caesarstone Buttermilk, then Pental Botticino--long story and can't really recommend either company, but I love the look. Cambria has several colors that would have worked too, but it was $1000 more. We have the same restriction where everything else in the house is warm. You can't go white or gray, but the greige color does work. I just picked up the Cambria magazine and they have an article on gray neutrals. The decorator picked BM Bar Harbor Beige as his favorite beigey-gray with warm undertones. You could get a chip of that. Your travertine looks much golder than my tile, and I would be afraid of the gold dominating. I think that chipped edge might be a little too Tuscan. Have you looked at porcelain tile? There's so many to chose from and it's bullet-proof.

I have Armstong wood laminate. I really wanted hardwood but couldn't swing the budget for it. I not only put it in my kitchen but it flows from the kitchen to the dining area and living room area as well as the hallway. I also have Armstrong laminate in both of my bathrooms and laundry room. The one in the bathrooms and laundry room has probably been down about 5 years or so. No problems with it. Kitchen/living/dining has probably been down about 8 months. Again, no problem with it at all. I would recommend you use their cleaner however. It works better than just water and soap. I think we have similar colors in our kitchens. I think the name of my laminate is Antique Walnut.

I have not only owned but have installed every type of floor out there (well, I never installed wall to wall carpet and I spent a lot of time ripping it out of my houses): tile, full thickness finished in place hardwood, engineered wood of various styles, laminate, sheet vinyl, vinyl planks, ceramic tile, rubber, and cork. Like just about everything else, engineered wood varies in quality and price. Yeah, I put in some cheap as you can get home center stuff and it wore faster than it should. I've got some quality stuff that's been in constant use for a decade and you can't tell it isn't new. Engineered wood is going to be more stable to humidity (in the air) than regular wood floors. In fact, since mine is installed over a radiant heated floor, we decided to go with engineered wood primarily for that matter. Where I don't like wood is in places where you're likely to get a decent amount of water on the floor: kitchen, bath, laundry, and perhaps less than perfect basements. There I've used tile (though I hate that in kitchens because I drop things), rubber (we had industrial rubber slate finish in our kitchen and foyer), and now I'm using the premium Mannington Ardura. I still have some tile accents (a rectangular area under the dining room table, and a border in the living room where my wife sets all her house plants). If you want wood, get wood.

Riva products are not oiled to my knowledge. If you have soil issues, investigate how the soil is entering the home and try to catch as much as possible at the entries. I know it sound common sense, but many people ignore that step. I prefer some type of scrubby mat outdoors and something soft inside that will catch moisture and residual soil.
