What color flooring? And does anyone have pics of their Pergo/Arm

I never thought about Pergo until today. I think tile in my kitchen will be too cold (Kitchen is above a non insulated crawl space) My inlaws have Pergo and it looks great. They have a very light blonde color and I'm leaning towards something darker.

We are getting Maple Spice cabinets and the counter will be a darker brown/black. We narrowed it down to 2 choices.

So please help me...I just don't know what color wood we should go with. I don't want everything to be to matched together, ya know?

Also, if you have laminate flooring...how do you like it? I checked out consumer reports and they recommend Armstrong over Pergo so we will be leaning towards Armstrong, just not sure of a color!

I have Armstrong Laminate and I really like it. It is not cold and is so easy to clean. My kitchen has similar colors and shades of wood so I put a link to my slideshow. I hope it helps in your decision.

No Photos yet! :>( This is becoming the gall darn reno from H***! Am hoping to nag- I mean convince DH to get walls taped and plastered today- so then I can prime and Cultured Marble guy can come in to do final measure. I am so ready to have this bathroom done! We do have a working toilet and floor down- yeah- but DS arrives home tomorrow, and I guess he'll be showering upstairs (again!:>). Maybe, just maybe he'll have a shower before he heads back to college! (In two weeks). Would love to pick a paint colour, but as shower base is NOT the colour we picked- am waiting till the walls are in, and then will paint (would have preferred doing the painting first) According to CM guy, walls will be waterproof, priming is to cover the blue board so colour doesn't show through marble. Muscat, what is the trim around your surround? Looks very nice!

Does anyone have a travertine floor in your kitchen?

msrose: the Taj majal is gorgeous and right in line with everything I am drawn to for my countertops (I am also remodeling my powder room which also has the travertine floors). So, I think my travertine is the same as the one you are considering. We installed it about a year ago. I absolutely loved it until I started planning my kitchen and powder room remodel. I, too, considered wood as my alternative, but ended up with travertine because of 1) cost and 2) pool. The kids are constantly running in the house dripping wet. Regardless, at this point, I honestly wish I had chosen wood. It is sooo much easier to coordinate countertops, paint, and backsplash tiles with. In addition, I have read on numerous design blogs that the travertine is associated with the tuscany look which is trending out. I am not a trendy person, but we will likely only be in our house for another 8 or so years and need to be considering resale value. With all this said, I love the warmth of travertine and still think mine is beautiful. I will post a link for you in a mintue from a color expert regarding travertine that you might find helpful. Does anyone have pics of painted Island with stained perimeter?

I struggled with this exact same dilema. Most of the two tone kitchens have light perimeter and dark island. The style of my house and surrounding furniture does not really support the look of so much light cabinetry. But I also didn't want an all dark cabinet kitchen. I began searching desperately for pictures in magazines and as I looked I began to find a few and they were beautiful! Then Sharon1 posted pictures of her kitchen and she had the exact same color scheme I had just ordered and I thought it was gorgeous! It was a huge load off my back. My perimeter is a dark stain rustic beech and my island is a creamy glaze. I haven't picked countertops yet - I don't know what I want to do yet. I think the reason you see my light perimeters is that it keeps the kitchen light and airy and a dark island looks more like a piece of furniture. Flipping it is less common, but it is still beautiful. I wish I had pictures, but I'm a DIY project under construction! :-) I also searched for Sharon1 and all her pictures fell of the forum, which is a bummer. I couldn't find her in the FKB either - she must not have posted there. I'm sorry to not be more help visually. But hopefully I've reassured you that many of us have done the very color scheme you are considering!

Chinchette, thank you for your input. I sure hope my floors become more red. I really was in love with the Mirage samples but their price was more than the BR-111 so I went with the company that I though was good but more in my budget. I am trying to choose a painter and then I will install the floors and take pictures.

I have Alloc, and love it. It is definitely less common to use laminate in a kitchen, but I enjoyed how easy it was to install, how nice it is to walk on, and how easy it is to maintain.

Hi, I have a Pergo tile look floor, I think the color was sandstone. It's been down 3 years and still looks brand new. Easiest floor ever to keep clean.

I had two different laminates installed 4 yrs ago. in the kitchen/laundry we have Shaw (tile look) and in the entry and living room we have Alloc Domestic:

My sister has Pergo in her kitchen/entry and it's been 12 yrs. They all hold up really well.

We have Bruce Park Ave Makore flooring in our kitchen and back hallway. Love it!
It is somewhat darker than our maple cabinets. The countertop is Cambria - Wiltshire Red and it is quite dark.

I have Armstong wood laminate. I really wanted hardwood but couldn't swing the budget for it. I not only put it in my kitchen but it flows from the kitchen to the dining area and living room area as well as the hallway. I also have Armstrong laminate in both of my bathrooms and laundry room. The one in the bathrooms and laundry room has probably been down about 5 years or so. No problems with it. Kitchen/living/dining has probably been down about 8 months. Again, no problem with it at all. I would recommend you use their cleaner however. It works better than just water and soap.

I think we have similar colors in our kitchens. I think the name of my laminate is Antique Walnut.
