I think leave the cabinets alone - they are a pretty wood color and will stay timeless. Paint is a one-way street. If you are going to paint anything, you could think about changing the dark wood on the table and chairs. (I painted a similar set last fall - not a terrible project, even for an amateur like me.) The cool tone is most apparent on the living room upholstered furniture, though - maybe change or slipcover those pieces to something richer and warmer. I'm not sure the yellow wall paint is the best choice, either - it is a tricky color to get right, and yours looks like it stretches through all those different spaces and varied light levels. Maybe something more neutral but still warm? And a big colorful piece of art on the far living room wall would look pretty, and could tie in some of the other colors!

You're trying to be beige and gray, warm and cool. Lose the valance and LOSE the white "crown and fascia in the family room. That "return" and ending seems quite awkward, as if someone ran out of material. And the crown is too small for the fascia board as well.

Pay an electrician to move your table light. Fix the ceiling. Lower it, it's near the sky...........and hate to say this, but I think the backsplash selection, not the best with counter tops. Looks a bit of very busy. Not sure that beige paint is helping.......and no decor necessary above cabinets.

As far as colors, I am usually drawn to warm colors. The sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman are only a few months old. The store had a small fabric swatch and the color appeared different to me in the store. It was a special order that cant be returned so I am trying to work with that furniture. I am up to changing out the table and rug underneath (even though they are new) if it means I don't have to spend money on repainting cabinets.

I have been looking for artwork for months and nothing has really seemed to catch my eye yet........such a process.

The crown molding was done by the builder......it is a piece of crown molding, the actual wall, and a small piece of trim. the builder does not paint in between and just leaves it white. I really do not want to get into the mess of taking that down.

The backsplash is another item that I do not wish to take down. It does not bother me, so I will make it work.

I agree with the light and we will have an electrician move it, but I wanted to be sure on the size of the table we are putting there. It's a tight area and a round table between 42-45" seems to work best. Anything larger and the door from the game room starts to interfere with the chairs around the table.

I am looking to make changes in the colors or decor to make it flow better.

Do you need a window treatment for privacy? Id think about putting nothing there but if I needed something I would do a roman shade in a neutral color. Something that coordinates with your rug under your table AND your backsplash.

The key to making spaces flow is to have similar styles and connection with the colors in each space. Your kitchen cabinets are beautiful. The rug in the dining area is beautiful. The sofa and flooring all work together. The table has a country feel to it that doesn't seem to fit with the other two rooms. The art in the hallway is also very country craft, while nothing else seems to have a country flair. The blue gray in the living room is thowing things off. The walls are too yellow and the color of the valance in the kitchen has nothing to do with any other color in the space.The crown molding in the living room is out of place with the rest of the space.

I would remove the crown molding and the kitchen valance, paint the walls a light gray green and replace the silver blue grays with green grays in the living room.

I would either replace the entire dining set with something more contemporary or paint the white base a dark green gray and get 4 upholstered chairs for around the table. Ditch the entertainment center. It is too dark and massive. A simple tv stand would be better.

Now choose a color that you love. Bring that color into the kitchen, dining area and living room with a few pieces. A platter and fruitbowl in the kitchen, some flowers for the center of the table, art, a coffee table book, a vase in the livingroom Add a few throw pillows or a throw. Just enough that the color draws your eye from room to room.

When you get new a new coffee table, end tables or ceiling fan, get the same wood as your kitchen cabinets.

Your house looks homey and cozy, like it's a nice place to be. A different window covering in the kitchen is a great suggestion, the color doesn't really carry over from anything else.I like the sparkle the backsplash adds.

The crown molding is an unfortunate installation. I wonder if painting it the same color as the wall (since you're unable to remove it) might make it less obvious? I think it would make your ceiling look higher in your living room, too. Some examples:

Not sure what your budget is, but the thing that really draws my eye and keeps things from flowing for me is the light furniture and light rug in the dining room. I think a darker (not too dark) rug would ground the space and not be such a high contrast with the cabinets, which look very nice the color they are. So either a dining set with darker legs, or a darker rug with your current set (but not a dark rug with a new dark dining set) might help with flow.

I agree with a few suggestions you’ve gotten- remove the valance, paint the crown molding the same color you paint the walls, instead of moving your light fixture, you could just replace it with one with a longer chain to lower it. The dining set is jarring with the white frames. I think if you paint the legs and table base a darker color, the seats will look nice and it will reduce the contrast. The TV cabinet is dark, but I’m guessing provides you some display area. I suggest painting the interior of the cabinet a light color to lighten up its overall feeling. I can’t tell if those are glass doors, but you might remove them and use lighter decor inside them. Because you don’t have high ceilings the decor above the cabinets brings the ceiling down. Once you find a nice picture by your sofa, use it as a color palette for a throw blanket and pillows to tie everything together. A lot of us don’t have the money to toss all the new stuff we have and run out and buy all new. These are fixes that you can effect with a couple of coats of paint instead and will look good until you are ready to replace or re-decorate. Nice home, good luck.

IMO the biggest problem is the flooring if that was all the same flow would be much simpler.I would remove the rug from under the table all the stuff from the top of the cabinets That piece of crown needs to be removed it just makes no sense.An actual low cabinet with the TV hung on the wall at the proper view will make that LR feel much larger and some proper lighting all would have a huge effect
