Home office, need help!
Comments (13)How do you plan to use the room? Do you regularly work at home? Would you have clients in your home office? If you will use it a lot, you need to prioritize function, even if it is a bit at the expense of form. At work, where I get office visitors fairly often, I prefer to face the door. But I also want to face my monitor (you notice how offices in design magazines never seem to have to deal with normal office hardware?), and don't want it between me and any visitors. My desk is L-shaped, with the monitor in the corner and the keyboard on a keyboard tray. The door is at about a 30 degree angle to my right. I like the large artwork, but for me the smaller one is kind of meh. Based on the layout in your inspiration pics, the smaller one will be more in your field of view when you are working (on the side or front wall). Definitely get something that you will enjoy, not just something that serves the decor....See MoreHelp needed! Arrange/shop for den/home office please
Comments (9)I like the arrangement with the desk under the window, facing into the room. That leaves room for a long console with enclosed cabinets and shelves on the wall under the tv for your printer and other storage. You can go as long as you want on the console. You have enough room to move your rug all the way under the chairs so the console can sit on the floor....See MoreNeed help decorating home office
Comments (9)First of all, I love the wet bar. I have one by my desk and it’s wonderful to have tea, coffee, water nearby. Your guests will also appreciate it - leave a bottle of wine, wine glasses and snacks out for them. A good quality sofa sleeper can sleep guests, provide seating, and will give you more space while you’re using the room as an office. Add side tables and lamps, it will be a nice place to read too. Place your cabinet on the far wall that doesn’t have a window and float your desk in front of it. The sofa can go on the opposite wall, near the entry. Place your keyboard under the window opposite the wet bar and roll your office chair over when you play. If you don’t need the ceiling fan, a beautiful light fixture can be swagged above your desk....See Morehelp! I need home office/mud room ideas
Comments (15)Following up my earlier comment…if you pull the cubby into the middle of the space as a partition, there are lots of options for the desk…on the dark wall (monitors/wires will disappear/blend in); facing the back of the cubby (which could be trimmed out/painted/wall papered/decorated or covered in cork as someone suggested; or perpendicular to the cubby partition, especially if there is a window with a view on the wall we don’t see in your photos. Don’t worry about the monitors…arrange your desk in the position that feels most comfortable for you while you are working. The mudroom cubby area should be on the side closest to the door into the room, which I’m guessing is on the right since that is where you placed the cubbies. The good thing is you can move/tweak the placement of your desk and the cubbies until it feels just right for you! I would anchor the office space with a rug and place the chairs and the mirror (vertically) in the cubby space. You could do a gallery wall on the dark wall. I think it has a lot of potential and makes good use of the room!...See MoreMolly
