I did hand feed them last night, with some sugar water. I couldn't tell if they were drinking any, they did leave their proboscis in the little drop for a while, and later I noticed that there was some brownish yellowish liquid on the floor of the mesh cage i had moved them to earlier, directly underneath both of them there was small drops of this liquid, about an hour after I fed them, do they poop? lol, I know it was right under them and it wasn't there before I fed them, because i moved them into a new enclosure, away from the other pupa, anyway, when i saw it I thought well they must have sipped at least a little of the sugar water, I hope anyway. Now it was supposed to be partly cloudy today, and no rain, i was going to let them go on my lunch break, now the forecast says rain and cloudy all day, and temps in the low 50's. what should i do? It is not raining right now, should I release them before the rain comes, or keep them overnight again and just feed them when i go home for lunch, oh, and i now have 3, as one more eclosed early this morning. I am just not sure what is best for them, to let them go, or keep them a while longer, what would you guys do if you were in my position? thanks

Hi- My wife and I just refinished the pine wood floors in our dining room and living room- long weekend of sanding! Then we stained with miniwax oil based stain. Applied 2 coats of stain 24 hrs apart, and we probably left the first coat on a bit too long before wiping it off. The next day we added the second coat and wiped within 5 minutes. It's been raining a the past few days here in the Northeast so it's humid and we've had the windows cracked, fans running, and the heat at 80. It's been 48 full hours and when I run a clean white rag across the boards, applying moderate pressure, I get a very faint coloring on the rag. So not 100% dry. I've never done a floor before- is that dry enough to poly or should the rag be completely clean before I poly? Also, there are some sections of board that appear shiny. When I run the rag over them they don't really dull at all- they stay shiny. Is that the way the wood took the stain, or is that the stain hardened over that we didn't wipe well enough? I first sprayed the deck with the Thompson's seal about 5 years ago. The first coat looked good and dried OK. I decided to put on a second coat, it was not dry for over a week. I read the directions and it said to put on only one coat! I called Thompson's for advice. They said a seal remover was the only way. They also advised that after the stripping that I not apply anything as the wood was sealed. I got on my knees and did as they said. The second time about 2 years ago, I applied one coat and it worked fine. I just did it a 3rd time this month, June 2018. The outer boards most exposed to sunlight did just fine but to make it uniform for the whole deck, I did the whole deck. The next morning, the deck was very oily, slick and sticky and I had some rain too. Rain did not affect the application or drying at all. I read the instructions again and it mentioned wiping any excess sealer off with a towel. I did that, even a couple times and it was still slightly sticky, but much better. Over the evening I was reading of some methods of removal; ammonia, simple green, mineral spirits, paint thinner, wax & paraffin removers, hair blower or iron (with towels) and wipe and even polar vs. non-polar (water base vs oil base). I don't know if any of them would have worked because the next morning despite rain and hail and 60 degrees, the deck was dry! In short, I would recommend in the future, when applying it is a good idea to wipe the excess off right away with a towel (a rag). Kind of like applying Pledge to your wood furniture. If you are caught unawares the next morning as most of us are, I recommend getting on your knees and wiping it down 3-5 boards at a time trying not to leave any hand or knee prints, maybe 2 or 3 times. It will come off as a gummy or oily residue. This gets off the excess allowing for the deck to dry. Been there, Slow learner.
