What are my options with these yews?

Now that I have deer protection, I have a few yews that have recovered. I have pruned them somewhat in these nondescript three foot blobs. I have no idea what size or form they want to be, or how they could be shaped. Are they potentially tall trees, like a few of the yews on my property? Or do they lend themselves to round balls, naturally spreading wide or naturally columnar? This is the challenge with inheriting someone else's garden..

Comments (13)Feed the tree, if you move the yews, what are you going to have before much time passes? An overgrown mess of shrub form trees that contribute a negative value to the overall property! The pictures offered are close-ups so don't explain the overall scene. If we were to see one that did, I think we'd see large shrubs that are destined to become trees because their width can't be accommodated by the space available. We'd see these future trees growing up into the bottom of a larger tree. It won't look good because the lower trees will grow sideways, reaching for light and when all the canopies mix. It'll look messy in addition to the negative obstructing effects that have been already pointed out by others. Comments (9)I wish I could give the person who came up with the bright idea of using RRD as a multiflora control method a good screaming at. It makes as much sense as cutting the rodent population by giving them the plague. I'll put in a plug for Rosa carolina, which last I heard, was still not getting RRD, and is an attractive and fragrant rose, and some strains have a litt;le rebloom. Likewise for R. californica and Burnet roses. Rosa palustris and setigera should be safe picks, though strictly once-bloomers. Aside from switching to wild American roses such as those, there's not much you can do, unless your can talk all of your neighbors into adopting a sane multiflora control method (e.g., bulldozer). Virtually all garden roses, no matter how disease resistant they may be otherwise, are vulnerable, whether they're OGRs or moderns, as are Eurasian wild roses and even many American wild roses. I suppose you could try Baltimore Belle, Souvenir de Brod, Commander Gillette or Bonica, since the latter has shown at least *some* resistance, and the others are hybrids of resistant species. Comments (8)i was in the same frame of mind on Mother's Day weekend after backing up my husband's car and scratching the heck out of the side of it on overgrown yews that were making the driveway more and more narrow. We went at them with a lopper ($30 from Home Depot). I cut up all the branches fairly small. I could fit one bush into 2 lawn bags once I cut the branches into smallish pieces. I dumped 5 bushes at the town compost pile. My plan was to plant hostas in between to mostly disguise the stumps till they grew in. But we decided to heck with it, and we dug up all the stumps too. It was not hard, but I should add that my husband and I are avid weightlifters, so perhaps we are outside the norm in thinking this was easy. We decided to go for it since the neighbors had a dumpster and said we could put anything in it - so there went the stumps! In future summers I'd like to do the same thing to all the yews in front of my house. At the very least, I have to do a lot of trimming now, because they are getting really big. Comments (2)Remove the plastic cover and the bulbs inside. Inside there is a metal cover that hides the wiring. Press in on the cover to remove it. You will probably find the wiring enters the center of the fixture from a plastic on metal junction box. You will find the fixture is held to the ceiling with toggle screws. All of this means that the wiring enters the center of the room and when you remove the fixtures you will have two holes to fill. You then have several options. You could install a ceiling fan with a nice light fixture. You could have recessed lights installed. A nice light fixture or an appropriate size chandelier are other options.
