researching historic foods, menus and dishes.

some of you have noticed that have an affinity to old time foods,dishes, and menus.

this is side effect of research i was doing on gardening since garden pages and food pages are commonly mixed in many pre -1940 newspapers. Also before there were TV chefs there were recipe columns, menus and other newspaper tidbits for housewives and others who had cook at home.

the sources I use are in my opinion something new when come to researching food and old recipes because until fairly recently searching old newspapers for this type info was very time consuming and required you to use micro film at libraries that had holding of the info you wanted and had be searched without indexes or search engines. Now going through this type info is easy and the computers do most of the work. Since newspapers from 1830--1950's the cheapest printed media for information.
