Need help with dimensions -mirror/bath sconce - pls!
Comments (8)Hi and thanks again for posting. I found my old post (which I should have done in the first place, to find the exact dimensions! Duh) and your reply. Sorry, but we moved out for a bit to avoid the messiest part of the renovations and I'm thoroughly disorganised now. None of the things i mentioned (sink, mirror, vanity, sconce) are installed which makes it harder to see how things would look. This morning I marked the wall with painters tape with the various dimensions and am hoping that this will help me get a better sense of which mirror and sconce to go for. I think the 13" sconce will work best for the space but need to decide on the mirror. The bathroom is small (ceiling height is 7' 11"; space is 5' 7" x 6' 2". The sink/mirror will sit on the wider wall. I think the 12" mirror might be better now that I've marked it out, but am still considering the 17" (actually it is 17 11/16"!!!! Math and precision are obviously not my forte!) since a bigger mirror is always nice...but of course don't want it overwhelm everything else, as Patricia said) Thanks everyone, for bearing with me and my questions! Comments (17)Sure NEGal. I found cabinet hardware to be very difficult choice. Maybe that is just because it at the end and one is already fatigued. For my master I also wanted satin/brushed nickel, but I wanted texture, 'textured', 'fluted', 'ridged', 'beaded', etc were all search terms I utilized. Fortunately for me, we have 2 stores within 20 miles that specialize in cabinet hardware. It is so great to be able to see and feel and touch. Plus the staff is so knowledgeable. One knob I wanted, the saleswoman said, 'oh let's stay away from that one unless you love it. They are retooling for that finish and it will be 6 weeks." I did not love it enough to want to wait 6 weeks - LOL They also made ordering so easy. So I highly recommend in person shopping at a local store if at all possible. So let's talk about this mirror. How big is big? 36 x 48? I really love this one, but it is only 43 x 31. Check out Ballard Design, they have mirrors in lots of sizes and finishes. I also like to look at Howard Elliot....See MoreNeed some vanity mirror help!
Comments (4)I think those sconces are too small and won't provide much light. I hope you have several recessed lights too. When going with higher ceilings you need to scale up your other fixtures so that things look proportional. I have 10 ft ceilings in my bathroom. My mirrors are 48" high and my sconces are 24" high. The width of my mirror is based on having 2 sinks and 3 sconces above one vanity, so it doesn't relate to your space. There isn't one correct answer for what the width of your mirrors should be....See MoreNeed help figuring out mirror and sconces over vanity
