Hi, If the GC changed from ceiling fixtures to sconces, you should have a CHANGE ORDER and it should have been signed by you BEFORE the change was made. This is a CUSTOM home, right? In additon, you absolutely should have been consulted as to the position of these fixtures. Nip this kind of unilateral decision-making on your GC's part immediately. Tell him since you weren't consulted as to the position (as in an electrical walk-through)of these new sconces, he will need to move them at his expense. Don't pay him one red cent, or you are setting a dangerous precedence for him to make decision for you and then make you pay when they aren't the decisions you neccesarily would have made. We went through the same miserable things and it can get worse - believe me. . . . Good luck. Let us know how this one turns out.

I'm in a similar predicament, so I can relate. In a kids' bath I don't think I'd do cararra for the countertop because of etching and staining. I'd do either silestone, soapstone or maybe the cardosa. Instead of white grout, consider doing a gray grout. It doesn't stain and the gray lines give a nice vintage feel, and provide a graphic punch so you might not need to add additional color in the tile. If you search for white subway tile gray grout here I am sure many pics will come up.

Thanks all for the replies. My 1st pick was the top one with the round balls. I was told that this was only available as pendant style, not a flush mount which we needed as only 8ft ceilings. The 2nd one was available as flush mount or pendant style. However, I contacted the company (supplier) this am and they said they carry in both formats. I've since called the store and am waiting to hear back if I can exchange or if this will be special order and a lot more $$. (Note the flush mount drops 1'' from ceiling vs. pendant which can drop from 6'' to 42''. Fixture is going over either our bed or a coffee table. DH preferred the flush mount style given height restrictions which is why we ended up with my 2nd choice with the non-round drops We'll see what if find out from the store.... Thanks again:)

So there's really only the one option for us, and we'll just have to find a rug somewhere that can work with that. I made my own Maria Killam undertone color wheel with Sherwin Williams paint samples (from the info at https://mariakillam.com/colourwheel/), so I'm hopeful that that will be enough to ensure I get a rug that is compatible. I have a feeling this is going to be an annoying thing to get right since we have high ceilings and can lights, but it drives me nuts when the lights in a room aren't the same color.
