Building a Home Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Need some vanity mirror help!

Our master bath has 3 seperate vanities all are centered on the wall and on legs to look a furniture piece. I am having a hard time figuring out how big the mirrors should be. I will be using sconces on either side of the mirror that are 5.75 wide and 14.25 High. The first vanity is 86" with a single sink in the middle. The second vanity is a make up vanity that is 46" wide and no sink. The third vanity has a single sink and is 59" wide. The ceilings are 10 ft. Attached photos of the vision board, the cabinet makers drawings and the scone for reference. HELP I am nearing the end of my build and need to get them ordered and after a year and 1/2 making selections and designing I just cant seem to figure this out!

I think those sconces are too small and won't provide much light. I hope you have several recessed lights too.

When going with higher ceilings you need to scale up your other fixtures so that things look proportional.

I have 10 ft ceilings in my bathroom. My mirrors are 48" high and my sconces are 24" high. The width of my mirror is based on having 2 sinks and 3 sconces above one vanity, so it doesn't relate to your space.

There isn't one correct answer for what the width of your mirrors should be.

You have a scaled drawing, so use that to draw out a couple of mirror sizes using the same scale and place them on the drawing. Scale out the sconces too and add them to the drawing. This should give an idea of what looks "right" to your eye.

If the vanities are in place, then buy some poster board and make mirror mock ups in various sizes and see what looks best in the actual space.

The mirror you see is actually our bedroom mirror, it goes above the dresser. When I painted the bathroom I took down the old peeling mirror and didn't bother putting it back (it was HEAVY). So, I could lower this one a bit so it doesn't collide with the light shades and live with it, but then I'd need to find another bedroom mirror (which would be easier though), but I'd also have to worry about this one peeling from water splashes. This one is too pretty to ruin. My husband splashes :-( I do like the idea of an oval, may flowers, and a 3-light fixture, thanks. Do you think a beveled oval would be nice, or should it have a frame?

I am excited about my vanity top going in next week that is made of recycled porcelain (busted up old bathtubs and sinks from demolition projects). It's called ECO Cosentino and you can order samples at the link below for something like $4 each. I got Riverbed as my color. For a 24 x 20 inch vanity top it's $700 so it's possibly more expensive than granite. But of all the recycled products I looked at like Vetrazzo or Icestone this was less expensive. Mayflowers, the vanity errant's looks similar but is not the Godmorgon vanity. Click on the link in my OP to see the vanity. I am not sure if I will be able to see under the toilet or not.. Doubtful because it will be less than 7 feet away, right? I have not had a chance to tile shop--- other than online. I will post some of the ones I am have came across. I think now, thanks to GW'ers the shower tile and mosaic band will be easy. Its the floor tile that will be tricky. Plain white floors would be a nightmare, and I like the idea of keeping the floors on the darker side to ground the space. I am hoping once I see real tile it will all come together- now that I have a plan in mind.

Some options: This is a simple mirror "framed" with wood painted to blend into the wall. Any glass company can cut mirror to any size. That would accommodate the differing sizes you need. Then you can "frame" it with wood trim or leave it unframed. Here's one that has no frame, simply a sheet of mirror installed on the wall. I think that would work best for your application since you have two different sizes. This one has lights mounted over it like yours would. This one has the same treatment but not covering as much wall You said you wanted it to pop. If both the mirror and the light pop, then that's too much. I'd go with a plain mirror and get lighting that pops. The style of lighting would depend on what you like.

I'd choose the same style mirrors in different sizes based on the vanities. I used butcher paper to see the scale when I did my last bathroom and it really helped get the right size. Love your choices! Can I ask the make of your vanities, I'm looking for that style and having a hard time the right one in the size I need.

I think you should consider working with a lighting expert. I'm doing it with my build and she came up with solutions that I would've never come up with.
