Has anyone used Armstrong's vinyl line Pryzm?
Comments (109)The backing is cork so I am not surprised by a vapor barrier requirement. We are having it put down throughout our new home and will be glad to be 100% tile and grout free for the first time in our lives :) I have some old samples that I've tried to damage. It is very difficult to scratch or gouge, the only way I was able to pit it was to take a decent swing at it with a sharp tool that had some weight to it. Makes me wonder if we'll even want or need to fuss around with felt pads under everything (they seem to be magnets for dirt, hair, fur, or whatever floats around before you have a chance to sweep it up.)...See MoreFloorplan / layout critiques & suggestions for new country home
Comments (158)@doc5md We've been in since May, so plenty of time for second guessing ourselves! A few thoughts: Regrets: Should have insulated with rock wool between the 1st and 2nd floors and all the bedroom interior walls. Little boys are loud lol. Should have put a window in the shower. Upstairs could have been laid out better - space up there for 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an office. The "UNFINISHED" area upstairs was supposed be an unfinished storage/mechanical room. It ended up finished and is now my office. It works fine, but we could have made better use of the space. Wish we'd put the upstairs air handler in the attic so the return could have a run of flex duct to cut down the noise. Its loud. Wish we'd put the bonus/play room in the basement. We've still got about 700sq ft in the basement we can finish later. And we can put a closet in the bonus room to make it a bedroom. But I value efficiency more than excess, so it bothers me. Not quite regrets, but might do different next time: Might have been better to have the laundry where the main floor half bath is. The thought was that my muddy kids could come in the mudroom and throw their filthy clothes in the laundry sink and go on. That has worked, but they won't always be so sloppy. A bathroom by the mudroom and carport door (most used exit) would have been nice. In the living room instead of 3 windows and a door we did a 12ft sliding patio door out to the screened porch. Its nice, especially in spring and fall, but it limited space for living room furniture having to maintain a clear path to walk....See MoreLiving room flooring!! Removing Carpet
Comments (11)From what I see on Wayfair, that flooring has an 8 mil wear layer which is not good. I wouldn’t consider anything less than a 12 mil for a residential floor. I just ordered SuperCORE SPC flooring with a 20 mil wear layer from WeShipFloors.com for a little more per square foot and free shipping. The planks are 7”X60” and have a lifetime residential warranty. The website is definitely worth a look because you will certainly get more for your money with their flooring. A thread here on Houzz has a lot of info on SuperCORE and SPC flooring (Adura Max versus Coretec). You might also Google-SPC versus WPC-which explains the differences between stone polymer core flooring and wood polymer core flooring and why SPC is the better buy. SuperCORE comes in three wear layers, Essentials-12 mil, Originals-20mil, and Xtreme-30mil....See MoreLVP Brand and Model Help
Comments (7)SuperCore SPC flooring from WeShipFloors.com. There is a lot of info on their website. The section, Flooring 101, is worth reading. The Xtreme line of SuperCORE has a 30 mil wear layer. There are a lot of colors to choose from in the 3 lines offered, Essentials with 12 mil wear layer, Originals with 20 mil wear layer and the Xtreme. In a couple of months there will be some new colors and some tile looks to choose from, too. If you look at the thread here on Houzz, Adura Max vs CoreTec, you will find photos of SuperCORE installs and a lot of info and reviews of the flooring. I have 51 boxes of the color Krypton from the Originals line in my garage waiting for install. If you’re not familiar with the differences in WPC and SPC flooring, Google SPC versus WPC flooring and learn why SPC might be your best choice. If you decide you like what you see and want samples of SuperCORE, use the green Request Samples button on the page for each color, and the samples will be free. WeShipFloors.com has a YouTube channel with videos of floor color comparisons and a short install video. Best of luck in choosing your new flooring....See MoreJamie Pace
