Building a Home Remodeling Flooring

LVP Brand and Model Help

We are looking into the world of luxury vinyl plank flooring for a new home build. With a 80 lb dog, kids, and rural setting, LVP is the material that works best for our lifestyle. I did some research and it seems Flooret Modin Rigid is the current leader in the LVP space. Their wear rating, waterproof ability, and overall quality is top notch. Unfortunately, they do not offer a color we like. Now we are exploring other brands and specific model plank flooring of that particular brand that is similiar to the Flooret Modin Rigid. COREtec seems to be a top contender, but I am open to all options. Please share what brand and model LVP you chose, why, and how it is holding up.

I used Armstrong Vivero, and it is holding up perfectly. It's a glue-down LVP - I did not want a floating floor in my kitchen. Also it is a stone look, which is what I wanted rather than a wood-look.

SuperCore SPC flooring from WeShipFloors.com. There is a lot of info on their website.

The section, Flooring 101, is worth reading. The Xtreme line of SuperCORE has a 30 mil wear layer. There are a lot of colors to choose from in the 3 lines offered, Essentials with 12 mil wear layer, Originals with 20 mil wear layer and the Xtreme. In a couple of months there will be some new colors and some tile looks to choose from, too.

If you look at the thread here on Houzz, Adura Max vs CoreTec, you will find photos of SuperCORE installs and a lot of info and reviews of the flooring.

I have 51 boxes of the color Krypton from the Originals line in my garage waiting for install.

If you’re not familiar with the differences in WPC and SPC flooring, Google SPC versus WPC flooring and learn why SPC might be your best choice.

Did you try googling Awning with your zip code? Many places in my area do it. You could ask Sears for a replacement estimate. Ask the neighbors if they remember who built the awning. Surely one of our smart people can give you much better help than I did.

We did cortec in FL with a 100 pound labrador. We replaced the wood look porcelain tile. Dog doesn’t hurt it, we don’t care about coming in wet from the pool. How ever, it’s not bulletproof. Moving furniture will scratch it as did the dog crate, things I never worried about with tile. If the sub floor isn’t perfect you might have a few hollow sounds. You also can’t change directions with the design. Cortec has a great visualizer that will take your room photo and insert the floor choice. That helped us pick the color with our furniture. It looks awesome, is thicker than the tile it replaced but was pricey at $9 a foot installed. But, no impossible grout lines to clean!! Demo took 4 days, 2500 square feet install took 1.5 days!

Anyone have experience with using Stanton brand of LVP?

Staton is a fine old name as it relates to carpet. Vinyl is new for them. I cannot find anything on their website regarding a warranty. You should check on that. I kind of doubt they are manufacturing this. They are likely having it made for them and simply putting their name on the vinyl. We went with the British company Karndean, because they have a great reputation and a huge variety of styles. We chose a whitewashed oak and are thrilled with the look and the durability (it’s been in 4 years and takes a beating).

No, it was their Knight Tile line. Sorry, it‘s called ‘white painted oak.’ It’s KP105

Before building and moving into our retirement home in Alabama I worked at a flooring store in Arkansas. I checked out all types of options and finally chose Cortec Plus LVP (Appalachian Pine) and have been quite happy after 9 months. It was economical, it's very easy to maintain and we've received many compliments on it. This picture is an accurate representation of color and real life install.

Armstrong, Mannington, Congoleum, Taragren, Mohawk, Shaw, Urban Floor are some options my builder is offering. Would any of these be a solid choice?
