OT - Happy Valentine's Day

I'm going to bake some heart-shaped cookies today to celebrate, but as someone who's recently fallen in love again, I just wanted to say Happy Valentine's Day to every here.

Stop your baking, your cooking; put down that meat cleaver and turn off the stove. Tell someone you love them right now and then you can get back to what you were doing. It's a truly a great day to be in love!

Everything does look delicious, and congratulations on that new love, Ricky.

What did I do here? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Well, mostly, I did stop and buy my Mother her favorite white chocolate/raspberry coffee drink. Elery is prepping for a colonscopy and diet is limited for five days before, which never was required previously. Mother had an echocardiogram, I did tell her that it was fitting to have a heart test on Valentine's Day, LOL. And so it came and went without so much as a cupcake, or heart shaped food of any type.

I took this photo a few years ago, but I'm making the same thing for DH today. A little 6" heart-shaped cake with 4 layers.

Made this for my wife. Forgot to grease the mold.

LOL, 2many, I think Sriracha tastes like vinegar and hot peppers, but can't taste any other flavors. I'm a wimp, I like just a little heat but I don't want the enamel on my teeth to bubble. I think if it's so hot I can't enjoy the flavors of the food, it's kind of pointless, but Elery loves heat, the hotter the better. That is one mean looking panty liner, BTW. (grin) Sleevendog, I found a similar potato in my storage: I left it propped up on the counter for Elery to find and he didn't even notice it, LOL. So much for that Valentine's Day thought! Thanks for the sriracha tip on hummus, Elery would love that. I suppose I could just mix it in at the end, so the entire batch isn't "contaminated"? (snicker) AnnT, the steak looks delicious, as always, and although I don't care for very many hot chilies I love peppercorns. It's a different kind of heat. Annie

Very true, Mike, but things are slowly being restored. We were very fortunate to have power since week 2 here in Arecibo. We were without water for 36 days but purchased filtered water from a hospital supplier for drinking and cooking ... there was NO bottled water!, refilled tanks of potable water through the municipality for bathing, and collected rain water for cleaning and laundry. Telephone and internet service is very poor and has still not returned fully. We had no property damage or flooding. Just a lot of discomfort those first couple of months. Stores and supermarkets are fully stocked but lots of local produce is missing until new crops grow. I put up a few pictures on FB for public viewing. You can see that by finding maria elena, arecibo ... I am wearing a peach sleeveless top and a big smile.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends here on the cooking forum : )

chloebud, that cake is gorgeous and perfect for 2! foas, if I weren't happily married, I'd stalk you (kidding of course!) : ) Ricky, I'm working on taxes today, DH is out at work, so I had to resort to kissing the cat and dog, told them both I loved them... DH will get his turn when he comes home tonight : )

Jasdip, a very special 'hello' to you today - and a request... will you be my Valentine? I know today will be very hard for you.

foas, it looks like not greasing the mold gave it kind of a pretty, scalloped edge...nice!

This was the extent of my valentine baking. I have to make 2 different ones because as we all know, no two people can agree on pizza toppings,even if they are in love. ;)
