My experience with Trunk Club's
Comments (14)I wonder if you have to really commit to these services for quite a few deliveries in order for the stylist to really get to know you. Most of my clothing comes from Loft. I return probably half, but there is a small selection of petites in the stores so I really don't have a choice. I like that you are using Nordstroms. I think Stitchfix can be a mixed bag of low quality and maybe high. I understand that you are paying for a service, but it would still bother me to pay way over the cost of an item because it was chosen for me as opposed to me finding it at Marshall's. I have a friend who likes Stitchfix even though she returns many things. She enjoys getting a surprise package every other month, and some of the things that she has kept are outside of her usual staples which makes it fun....See MoreThird Trunk Club .. and a revelation
Comments (5)Here are a few of the items coming to me-- also included are a few Eileen Fisher basics. I find some of her basics are super-- and some just average and not worth the price. I don't mind adding them into the mix to see what I think. Not sure if you can tell, but this leopard scarf has blue mixed in which could work nicely with my spring/late winter colors. This was her choice, the next three items were on my pinterest page. I have never worn faux leather and though the thought is a turnoff, I have seen some that I'd wear. Thought this was worth a try. I selected this one as well-- a linen longer length cardigan to replace one I have that is getting a bit worn. Hopefully I like it as much as my old one (which is no longer available!) My two least favorite items in the trunk.. in fairness, I did like the first pair of tory burch shoes she included-- but it was a style I knew didn't fit me well. I told her to feel free to add in one of the other styles. This just wouldn't have been my pick-- since I don't like quilted shoes and I don't wear ballet flats....See MoreJuly Trunk Club
Comments (24)My trunk arrived this morning-- it was to arrive yesterday but extreme weather/thunderstorms delayed it. I thought I would keep at least 3 items (TB ribbon flip flops, the Eileen Fisher long sleeve Tee and the scarf.. but I am only keeping the scarf. So sorry, this was not the best trunk to start sharing with you all-- but that's how it goes. Sometimes I keep 3-5 items.. and sometimes 1 to none! I won't walk through each item but will target a few reasons I returned the rest. Shoes: The Tory Burch flip flops are adorable but run small. I am a solid size 10 in most shoes-- 9.5 in some limited brands. I should have known better-- but all my Tory Burch shoes are either 10.5 or 11. The Ugg shoes are nice-- but make my size 10 feet look like 2 bricks. The superga mules are a favorite style-- but in the mules, they are too wide/too big to stay on my feet. The length is fine. Tops: The Eileen Fisher is not the shirt i thought it was-- this is a thin jersey/nylon. I thought I ordered the 100% cotton. I swapped this for one they suggested so totally my error. The Vince button down is a great fabric.. light weight but nice quality. The lapel was just too big in such a lightweight fabric. It looks sloppy (perhaps because i unbuttoned it pretty far-- but that's how I'd wear it) BP 100% cotton sweater - as i suspected it is too short and too wide. It is a nice soft cotton but it cuts me right at the belly and so emphasizes that area. Accessories: Leather Tote - it is just tooooo unstructured. I love the soft leather but i fear i would beat it up too much. Also, it had a terrible smell! I am not overly sensitive to smells.. i have never provide feedback on anything being smelly .. but this was bad and not a leather smell. I did order the Athleta cardigan Sue shared above-- in the same violet blue color. Hoping it works out well. My trunk will be picked up tomorrow-- next one is scheduled for mid-August. I will definitely be looking for some fall transitional pieces....See MoreFunky's Sept Trunk Club
Comments (24)Sue.. I have a number of tops from Free People and a couple from Anthro (both the same parent company? I think?). I really love the styles but I have to be careful because many are to short in the torso. I have a long torso to begin with then extra lbs don't help. Both are overpriced for the quality but I pay for the more carefree style. JT.. love the color of the sweater and that it is 100% cotton. That's perfect for fall. I don't think it looks all that short (I am 5'6" also) .. the thing that would keep *me* from buying it is the arms. I have broad shoulders (big bone structure everywhere-- but especially broad shoulders). I think the puffy sleeves accentuate my shoulders in an unflattering way... in a way that shoulder pads never did. Those wide and puffy sleeves make me feel like the michellan man! If your family member is pretty average build, i think the sweater would be lovely. I don't shop ASOS.. I don't have a good or strong reason why but i find their website to be cumbersome/overwhelming. I DO shop places other than nordstrom/trunk club lol.. but there is no doubt that their sales/return process are so easy that I do use them a lot. Other shopping spots: NM, Free People, Anthro, Eileen Fisher, Nic + Zoe and that's about it these days. I used to shop J.jill and Talbots but I haven't bought much from either in the last year. I am not a fan of Torrid or Lane Bryant or any of the other plus size stores. I am plus size but their proportions don't often work for me and I think the quality is inconsistent and more often less than I want....See MoreFunkyart
