My "Nothing Fancy" Quarantine Trunk Club
Comments (22)“Otherwise it will be "yoga pants" and sweatshirts every day. How many weeks do they say it takes to make a habit?” Three weeks... 21 days... ask me how I know 😎 Yesterday DH and I went to a drive through birthday party. Good friend whose son turned 21 set up their circular drive as a hilarious party. Never getting out of your car you could honk as you entered, give a virtual hug to the birthday boy and hand over your gift (note with bespoke limerick written by me containing a check and a bottle of champagne wearing a new masculine fabric face mask) where they went into quarantine for a week, get a piece of coconut bday cake in disposable cups with plastic spoons, and at the last station get cherry Jell-O shots made with vodka, contsining a maraschino cherry filled with fireball whiskey. There were also shots labeled “unleaded” for the drivers, they had been made in those little short, clear plastic cups with tops that you get ketchup in. Drive in, drive on.... 45 seconds and a good time was had by all. They kept the “party” open for an hour between 7 and 8 pm. It was a blast! Gosh I digress in a big way, my point was that this was the first time in ages we had seen other people except walkers in our own community. We dressed casually but nicely and I completely forgot to put on my watch, earrings or any other jewelry! It did not even occur to me ....I committed a crime against accessories 😥...See MoreJuly Trunk Club
Comments (24)My trunk arrived this morning-- it was to arrive yesterday but extreme weather/thunderstorms delayed it. I thought I would keep at least 3 items (TB ribbon flip flops, the Eileen Fisher long sleeve Tee and the scarf.. but I am only keeping the scarf. So sorry, this was not the best trunk to start sharing with you all-- but that's how it goes. Sometimes I keep 3-5 items.. and sometimes 1 to none! I won't walk through each item but will target a few reasons I returned the rest. Shoes: The Tory Burch flip flops are adorable but run small. I am a solid size 10 in most shoes-- 9.5 in some limited brands. I should have known better-- but all my Tory Burch shoes are either 10.5 or 11. The Ugg shoes are nice-- but make my size 10 feet look like 2 bricks. The superga mules are a favorite style-- but in the mules, they are too wide/too big to stay on my feet. The length is fine. Tops: The Eileen Fisher is not the shirt i thought it was-- this is a thin jersey/nylon. I thought I ordered the 100% cotton. I swapped this for one they suggested so totally my error. The Vince button down is a great fabric.. light weight but nice quality. The lapel was just too big in such a lightweight fabric. It looks sloppy (perhaps because i unbuttoned it pretty far-- but that's how I'd wear it) BP 100% cotton sweater - as i suspected it is too short and too wide. It is a nice soft cotton but it cuts me right at the belly and so emphasizes that area. Accessories: Leather Tote - it is just tooooo unstructured. I love the soft leather but i fear i would beat it up too much. Also, it had a terrible smell! I am not overly sensitive to smells.. i have never provide feedback on anything being smelly .. but this was bad and not a leather smell. I did order the Athleta cardigan Sue shared above-- in the same violet blue color. Hoping it works out well. My trunk will be picked up tomorrow-- next one is scheduled for mid-August. I will definitely be looking for some fall transitional pieces....See MoreInspired by funky’s trunk club…
Comments (13)Oh yay! What fun! And that is really the primary thing Trunk Club did for me-- it got me trying things I didn't think i could wear and some new brands I didn't think i could fit my body type (beyond yoga, madewell, vince and nike, for example). I needed the nudge to try new things-- especially because my reliable stores became not so reliable.. J.Jill moved to dowdier and lower quality options.. Loft plus size shut down.. etc. I didn't like Stitch Fix.. in my size range I found the options uninspired and a lot of the same thing fix to fix. I did received a few cute things but overall I didn't care for the styles or quality. I'll be curious to see how it goes for you! I am THIS >< close to stopping Trunk Club-- they've made a lot of changes in the last year to greatly reduce the "service" part of the service ... most recently, they just stopped the messaging your stylist feature. In truth, it didn't make sense to keep after they took away our dedicated stylists.. but it may be the last straw for me. On the other hand, it doesn't cost me anything unless i choose to keep something so I guess I am getting the service i pay for lolol. (i only have the service fee waived because i am a long-term customer and i spend a lot between nordstrom/trunk club)...See MoreSo I gave in and got another Trunk Club
Comments (42)OK, a new day.. fresh perspective. I have decided to return the two items on the "maybe" list. Long-Line Linen shirt - I love the top, always love EF linen. I really want to keep it.. but I don't know when/how I would wear it. If I can't think of an occasion or outfit for it, then it has no business in my closet. If i come up with one-- well, I can buy it later. Blue Tencel Maxi Dress -- I tried it on again this morning-- this time with (ahem) a bra, sandals and various jewelry with it. I love it with chunky silver jewelry! The deal breaker is that the armholes are too big.. it really takes away from the look. A smaller size might work better but I am not ready to go down a size in the waist. This is one I may also return to in the future.. 15 lb from now. Let me know if you have ideas for the long linen top-- I'd love to find a reason to keep it. In fact, I love it so much that I tried to order one for my mom (she likes to sit by the pool but refuses to reveal her arms).. unfortunately, they aren't selling it in petite sizes....See MoreSueb20
