I decided I would give Stitch Fix another try. I tried it several years ago and then just got bored with it. i just got my first order today and already realize the benefits. included in the box were a pair of pull-on skinny jeans and a pair of light red (think Nantucket red) cotton pants. I thought, red pants? I don’t think so! And skinny jeans that looked very ”straight” — not for my pear shaped bod. Guess what… both pants fit and actually look pretty good! I think I will keep both, because I have a really hard time finding pants that work for me. There were also two tops that I didn’t like, and a sweater that I really like.

Navy top is too large and not at all my style.

Green top had potential but also was a big large and just meh.

These are the keepers, I think, though I might try on the red/pink pants again and get DD’s opinion because they scare me a bit.

Like the green top! That last top, if the colors are right on my monitor say "Fall" to me.

Dusty Pink and red are both trend colours for the fall. If I could wear it in a skinny jean I'd be all over those jeans.

Actually, I'm starting to think it's a problem of being underwatered... late last summer when I had the same problem, I greatly reduced watering, and nothing changed. I checked the soil (gritty mix) again and it's totally bone dry. I had been watering pretty frequently, but very little each time - maybe only 20-30ml each time. The trunk only started to become a lot more solid when I began watering about a month ago, so maybe I just need to water a bit more each time I water. There are lots of new, white roots growing and no new signs of rot... it had been unusually sunny for about 2 weeks so perhaps the plant needed a bit more water during this period? I'll try watering a bit more each time I water, and maybe reduce the frequency a bit. Will keep you posted on how this goes... Thanks again for the suggestions!

Red, I am a 'newbie' on this thread. But not to reclaiming my mojo! I hope you feel welcomed and reclaim RED! ((((((GO! GO! RED MOJO!!!!!!))))) How do YOU feel about the weight you have gained? IS it compromising your health? Attempting to reclaim that healthy gal inside is only something you can do for YOU, and only when you are really ready. If this is a path you want to explore, then #1 is see your GP first, they will be a great guide as to how and what changes will reignite your RED MOJO! With pain problems walking can seem like a real chore- have you ever tried water based workouts- aerobics/ swimming? They may help as there is not the pressure and impact. Oh... and on the arm flab thing... don't talk to me about that!! Whaaaaaaaa! : ( Mine are like empty PJ bags, or wings or some such. NO amount of muscle will fix them (well maybe Arnold Swarz size arms... but not sure if that's a good look on a short lady! hee hee hee) As an ex nail biter and picker, I think it is definately a habit. Each time you catch yourself at your nails choose to stop, do something else to occupy your hands- I made a habit of painting nail strengthener each day. While I can grow may nails long (eg if I have an upcoming event) I choose to keep them a practical length-just past the tip of my finger. They annoy me less that length too. I think a great MOJO activation method is a new hairstyle and a set of clothes- you can get off that plane and see your mum feeling good about yourself. There is more to being a great person than what you weigh and how long your nails are. Oh and to your mum- if she comments on your weight, say 'It's amazing how genetics play such a part in your chance for weight gain' and smile sweetly :) Em

Westes: Bay area has a lot of bonsai enthusiasts and several clubs. Google will bring up quite a few in your area. Contact them for advise. But you should be aware that the plant will need maintenance work to keep it in balance and looking good. A large pot will allow the plant to support more leaves and thus will be larger but at some point it will settle to a larger but fairly stable size. You can reduce the effective volume of the pot but by putting ballasts (bricks, large stones, etc). Every 3-4 years it will need to be repotted too. Ken: bonsai draws its inspiration from nature. They just happen to be large trees since there is enough soil mass to support that biomass over ground. Bonsai is a scaled down version where we balance the root mass to the plant size it can support. The biggest difference really is to use a very custom soil and specific root pruning to maximize the "tree" that a given volume of soil can support. Root pruning aims to remove all thick roots and replace them all with fine fibrous roots. The more fibrous roots you have the bigger the plant it can support. The thicker roots are purely structural. So the plant needs to be tied to the pot - all fibrous root, coarse soil and small soil mass cannot hold the relatively biggish plant in place.

I rarely wear colored pants, but I had a pair of dark purple trousers that I loved. I think if you like the red pants, go for it! It can be so stylish to mix it up with colored pants and fit is the most important part.

Interesting. I agree about the tops --- odd choices. Nantucket red - fun! How nice to get pants that work that you would never have tried. (maybe it's your weight loss! YAY).

I have a pair of reddish jeans from loft. They are nice for a change, but you probaly won’t reach for them often, I know I don’t.

I am glad skinny’s are still in. I have multiple pairs and want to get more use out of them.

I agree about the tops.

The sweater looks cute. Pair that with an off white t-shirt and wearvwith the jeans.

What brand are the jeans?

I agree that pants are hard. They are the only item I can justify paying full price for.

Oh yay! What fun! And that is really the primary thing Trunk Club did for me-- it got me trying things I didn't think i could wear and some new brands I didn't think i could fit my body type (beyond yoga, madewell, vince and nike, for example). I needed the nudge to try new things-- especially because my reliable stores became not so reliable.. J.Jill moved to dowdier and lower quality options.. Loft plus size shut down.. etc.

I didn't like Stitch Fix.. in my size range I found the options uninspired and a lot of the same thing fix to fix. I did received a few cute things but overall I didn't care for the styles or quality. I'll be curious to see how it goes for you!

I am THIS >< close to stopping Trunk Club-- they've made a lot of changes in the last year to greatly reduce the "service" part of the service ... most recently, they just stopped the messaging your stylist feature. In truth, it didn't make sense to keep after they took away our dedicated stylists.. but it may be the last straw for me. On the other hand, it doesn't cost me anything unless i choose to keep something so I guess I am getting the service i pay for lolol. (i only have the service fee waived because i am a long-term customer and i spend a lot between nordstrom/trunk club)

I was thinking about Stitch Fix the other day. They once sent me a gorgeous cashmere sweater that i loved, but sadly so did the moths. The last box they sent was a total flop, so so,that was the end of that. I should try again. I actually like the blue top a lot.

I think the jeans pictured are straight legs, not skinny. Skinny jeans are tight at the ankle.

Ratherbe, there are some skinnies that are a bit wider at the ankle. I have two pairs. One from Loft and one from Christopher Banks.

But, I agree that the photo looks more like a straight leg.
