Hah HAH!!!! Now I don't have to wait for them leaves to grow!
Comments (64)I'm not a pro at this, but I will try to help a bit. If you take a leaf and look at it, you don't (Maybe you do) but leaves are cast on the back side so that the 'veins' are 'embedded within the leaf. So you need to make a mold of the leaf, as if you were casting it the first time. I have used kids modeling clay, rolled out to about 1/4 " (small leaf) pressed the backside of a leaf into the clay, and carefully cut around the edge of the leaf. Then I carefully removed the leaf. I lightly -Very lightly sprayed the 'clay leaf' with Pam cooking spray. I then proceeded to apply my silicone in THIN layers. (You can smooth with an icecube) It tends to be slippery from the oil, but you can get it to work. IF the silicone sticks to the clay, it can be gotten off with a bit of dishsoap when you wash the mold when it is cured. Takes awhile for the silicone to set up, especially if it is too thick... OR If you have a leaf done, and painted, oil it up and apply the silicone. That works too. You really have to try and experiment.....making a POP leaf isn't the easiest thing to do......but it can be done with patience. spray your leaf with Pam then Brush on a thin layer of POP. Let it dry and keep adding layers. Removing the leaf from POP has always been my problem Good Luck...... Marcia...See MoreI know most people don't like it..
Comments (10)I have a bright green variety and it hasn't bloomed yet but if I remember correctly the flowers should be blue. Mine has spread to 1x2 ft. since planted in the fall of 2005. I see new spots of it popping through the mulch in several place a few inches from the original plant. I don't mind. I'll just rip it out if it gets in the way of planting other things. Lori, is the tall purple flower in your picture an allium? Very pretty. Your garden is so colorful this year. I can't get over it since most of it was just planted last year. So pretty! You need to post more pictures in the gallery for everyone to see ;) MeMo/Rosalie...See MoreWhy people don't post negatives
Comments (11)Hi Cheryl, sorry for what you had to deal with, thankfully, it happens very rarely. Noticed in your page you state you'll no longer trade daylilies (plants) with anyone new, now you're talking!! Wondering what happened to the daylilies she sent you, seems to me they might've had a chance, being rather tough, seen some daylilies ( and plants) almost dry after Katrina and return, like Bougainvillea I thought was a gonner -made a comeback, nice to have it blooming red now. Patience is often needed. You did well by posting the negative message, for one it has brought you relief you needed, besides warning others, I'm going to search for them soon. Why I am not posting negative remarks? Might be seen as too kind, actually, kowwfc= knock on wood with fingers crossed, so far haven't been so disappointed -figuring it's newbies and we were all new once and made mistakes learning. I hope newbies (most likely) I traded seeds with, will appreciate my email suggestions for improved, more successful GW trading, besides, the ones who don't care will " kick themselves out" -won't last long. Of course it's good to post negative remarks on someone who intentionally and without appologies tries to keep on making unfair exchanges. I traded many boxes with success, some made me cry and cry, truth!!! Most of you can understand, great people and friends to know and get to know and swap with. I only trade plants when I feel assured to trust this person--" famous GW-ebber"--smile, most often with the pals with who I already made a few plant swaps. Great to have Rate and Review ( with me it might be Rave and Review) and conversations with you pals. Always learning, wishing you the best and a great weekend, GB-Bea...See MoreDon't you hate it when repair people show up late! (vent)
Comments (4)Isn't it a law or something they have to be late? And dress for the part...what's that? For us, living in a small community has its benefits when service people are involved. Poor work usually means they DON'T get business just by word of mouth. On the other hand it may take quite a bit of time before a good service person is available. It took all winter for the furnace to be put in but they did a fine job, we are pleased. If we have an emergency, they are here fairly fast. It's to bad the septic service didn't work out. An hour in your case was a pain in the butt but an hour isn't so bad considering the job they are doing. If you were their first service job though, I would say you had every right to be upset. I still wonder, could the traffic be a problem or cell service? Were they behind in a prior job? I think it would be good if you and this company, if they could negotiate a time better for both of you. You mention going to the doctor. How many of us have sat and waited for them? I know I have....See Morepudgeder
