Help! Going crazy choosing towel racks, light fixtures, etc.
Comments (22)I've mixed brands of polished nickel, and am very happy with how it's turned out. In one bath I have a Pottery Barn quad sconce (discontinued; got it on ebay), Kohler faucets, a Ginger Chelsea grab bar and knobs and tank lever from Lowes. We're finishing the master bath now, and have Hansgrohe Retroaktiv polished nickel faucets, another Ginger grab bar (love it), and the Asbury triple sconce from Restoration Hardware. The sconce is not big in scale at all, and is over a 42" vanity. We like both sconces with lights pointing up so we don't look at the bulbs. Three 60-watt bulbs is plenty, and we have two can lights near the toilet/shower area. I'm using hooks for towels instead of bars, and found polished nickel ones at Lowes that I really like; they match the drawer knobs and tank lever that I'm also using. They're all traditional in style, and all go together really well. I don't think anyone would criticize that they are not from the same company. Good luck! Comments (7)Thank you so much everyone for your comments. I was leaning towards the first or second fixture because they have halogen lighting, and I read that halogen lighting is best for the bathroom. However, I've been hesitant because I'm not crazy about the style. Those are out. Now it's between the third and fourth fixtures. I'm going for a more contemporary look in the bathroom, so I prefer the style of the fourth fixture. Can polished brass be contemporary? The downside is that I would have to get it in polished brass to go with the rest of my bathroom, and I think the brass takes away from the contemporary look. Would chrome look okay? My shower door and tub fixtures are all polished brass, but the sink faucet and cabinet knobs are two toned brass and chrome. The sink and tub are about 8 inches apart. I like the third fixture because it is two-toned, but the look is a bit traditional. Athensmomof3 (love that name), my medicine cabinet is directly above the sink. I've been looking at make-up mirrors. It's too late to get one that's hardwired. I've seen a lighted mirror that plugs in, and you can remove the cord from the mirror when it's not in use. I might get that one....See MorePl. help me choose which Light Fixture! Need to decide today
Comments (14)Thanks all for the replies. My 1st pick was the top one with the round balls. I was told that this was only available as pendant style, not a flush mount which we needed as only 8ft ceilings. The 2nd one was available as flush mount or pendant style. However, I contacted the company (supplier) this am and they said they carry in both formats. I've since called the store and am waiting to hear back if I can exchange or if this will be special order and a lot more $$. (Note the flush mount drops 1'' from ceiling vs. pendant which can drop from 6'' to 42''. Fixture is going over either our bed or a coffee table. DH preferred the flush mount style given height restrictions which is why we ended up with my 2nd choice with the non-round drops We'll see what if find out from the store.... Thanks again:)...See MoreHelp me choose a light fixture
Comments (6)Michelle - I'd not to a 'dangler' depending on how old your son is? My 12 year old is constantly shooting 'hoops' using his laundry hamper as a basket, rebounding off walls and whatever else (it's a small softer ball, not a basketball but it's a ball nonetheless). It would be a problem for him I am sure. My eye caught the quentin for some reason but the rutherford does have that flare at the base that mimics the flare of the bath light so it ties nicely there. They all are very cool and I like the finish....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
