Can I use 12x24 floor tiles in a small bathroom
Comments (16)You can check flatness by taking a pair of tiles and placing them face to face or back to back. If there is any gapping around the edges or in the center when you look at them from the side, then they are not perfectly flat. That doesn't mean that they can't be used. It just means that they will look better if they are not laid in an overlapping pattern where you get lippage, and it is important, if they are bowed, that it is consistent from tile to tile. I did a small bathroom in 18" square tiles that were perfectly flat and I still chose to align the tiles in a standard, straight set pattern. Lippage...See MoreBlack 12x24 Tile Laid in Herringbone Pattern
Comments (13)Thanks so much everyone! You all are so helpful! Just thought the herringbone pointing in the house would be good, and this tile only comes in 4x12 and 12x24 and I thought 4x12 would be too small and busy. Agree? As an alternative, could use the following tile: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bogtyfclb-x/ https://www.tileshop.com/products/cassettone-black-mosaic-porcelain-wall-and-floor-tile-667724 Think 4x12 laid in herringbone or this other black/white mosaic would work much better? Comments (64)The width of grout lines is determined by the edges of tile. Irregular shapes required wider grout lines due to variability of tiles next to each other. That’s why if you want thin grout lines you need tile with “rectified” edges. These allow for thinest grout lines. If they are “rectified” the tiler will have trouble laying without getting “lippage”. This is where one tile will be slightly higher than next tile. This causes tripping hazard so is to be avoided. Comments (3)I haven't used that large a tile, but I did a google search and here's a link to an image (scroll down for the herringbone layout): https://www.lowes.com/pd/Style-Selections-Mitte-Gray-12-in-x-24-in-Glazed-Porcelain-Tile/3799717 And another: https://www.daviemactile.com/tile-blogger/tile-patterns-and-its-names...See Morejwillia852
