Chunky Braided Rug - Looking for sources
Comments (10)A couple of updates... Having not found a rug with quite the feel of the one from Restoration Hardware, against my better judgement, we purchased the 10' x 14' one from RH. It's arrival was a bit of a disappointment, in that it just didn't have as much appeal as the small sample we saw in the store. It's color is supposed to be 'oatmeal', but is really more beige and there aren't any of the darker spots you can see in the photos above... which makes it a bit uninteresting... kind of 'meh'. You can see it in the photos below.... to me it certainly doesn't look like a $4000 rug. But we're going to live with it because we do like the chunkiness, the size is right, and I'm just tired of looking for a rug. :) The sofas on the other hand are a whole different story and are why I'm posting this follow-up. Perhaps it'll help someone else not make the same mistake. I had assumed Natuzzi sofas were made in Italy and would therefore be constructed with some level of quality, but have now found out otherwise. When we received the two matching sofas last week we liked the color and fabric, but the construction is just horrendous. Our salesperson apologized saying she "can't believe these sofas were let out of the factory"... This is their 'diamond tufts' (compare to the advertized design in the original photo above). Tufts? The seams are unevenly sewn like this on all sides and backs... Seams are so badly done the variation in their vertical location at the face of their arms from one sofa to the other is a full 2 inches... Hard to believe it, but yes, these sofas are supposed to be the one shown in brown in my first post. Although we did like the color, now that we're looking for sofas again, with this rug I'm leaning toward taking Clarece's advice above and am considering a brown leather model from some other maker....See MoreTrying to find area rug to complement my space
Comments (20)Thanks everyone for the ideas! I think I've actually decided to go with the Moroccan trellis. Because I change out my colors for the season and change artwork around a lot, I figured having something more versatile would work better. And hopefully it'll open up the room some more too with the light color and open pattern (although it doesn't seem small in here due to the large window and huge open kitchen/dining that you can't see). @ Maureen: I love the version in the photo you posted, do you know where that's from?...See MoreLooking for the right rug
Comments (3)I'm sorry to say that your TV console is much too short; there should be several feet of empty space on each end. A lighter color would also look more stylish. The table lamp you show is not suitable for a living room, it's much too small. Too many pillows, and the pillows you do have should have much brighter colors and patterns to liven up this room. The cool gray of the wall doesn't really go well with the warm color of the floor. I would find some large paintings which include warm colors as well as cool to make this room look warmer. The rug should also have warm colors in addition to cool ones. An Oriental rug would be nice. To take away from the heaviness of the TV a metal and glass rectangular or square coffee table would look great. Another chair or two in a different color would round out the seating arrangement, and a nice side table with lamp would be a good idea. Some tall plants by the window would add another color and give life to this room. Do add some books, even if only to put some stacks on the coffee table. Books really add personality to a room....See MoreAnyone feel like helping me look at rugs?
Comments (20)I ended up finding the first rug for a good price on Wayfair! Here it is in the room :) Please excuse the toys, haven't managed to get them contained still and it's our main living area so they keep getting brought back out. Up next: new end tables and some decor on the walls? Hooks by the door will be staying even though they're not super pretty, in his case functionality wins! I am thinking of maybe a wide piece of art above and a tall skinny piece beside the hooks to make them look purposeful... Thanks everyone for your help!...See MoreAndrea Spudich
