Upholstered bed? Platform vs. panel bed

I need to replace my bed. We got a new Casper mattress. The foundation did not fit into my existing bed which used a traditional set of twin xl box springs. The Casper foundation is solid and the bed has a divider down the middle. SO since I cannot buy all new bedroom furniture I need to find something that goes with my traditional mahogany furniture. All I can think of is an upholstered bed or an iron bed which I don't really want. Any advice on upholstered beds? Particular brands that you like? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear. I don't really want an IRON bed. Definitely going with the upholstered bed, just so many choices.

You could have a frame made that is the same height as the divider in your current bed. then put the Casper solid foundation on top of the newly level existing bed.

Our bed is of substantial construction with tall wood side rails that attached to both the headboard and footboard. Even so, I had to strengthen the rail to board connection with steel "L" brackets. That completely solved the problem and now there is no movement or vertical wobble. I do think I would shy away from a metal frame though.

I have a low profile bed too which is faux leather upholstered. And every 2 weeks I lifted the mattress and juggled to clean the dust bunnies with my vacuum cleaner. I searched for products I could use to fix this problem. A few months ago I came across this wonderful product. And now it's dust free under by bed for the last few months. I wouldn't bother with an upholstered bed, just have a frame and then a headboard, perhaps an upholstered one that will give warmth and softness. Upholstered beds may be too trendy, something that will look out of style in the future, although if you have your heart set on one then by all means. It's easier to keep it simple and just focus on the headboard and bedding to create the bed of your dreams.

I would build a wooden platform and paint it the color of the room. Then make an upholstered headboard.

As others have posted, you can just use a headboard attached to a frame unless you want the specific look of side rails and foot board.

I found the selection of upholstered beds/frames to be quite limited when I looked last year unless I wanted a gray or beige headboard.

You can have a headboard made custom relatively inexpensively and then the universe of fabrics is available and you can get exactly the style you want as well.

Hooker furniture makes some very nice upholstered beds. If you just want an upholstered headboard they are easy to find; you can shop Houzz or go on line! Any good upholsterer can make you one in the size and fabric of your choice also!
