second thoughts,,,,or maybe cold feet?
Comments (21)Well I have to say it again, I'm so glad I told you my problem, you helped so much! Yes, I'm keeping the under counter lighting. And letting my new appliances to be delivered tomorrow. I went over to my GC's house tonight, I had seen his cabinets, which is why I'm using him for my kitchen, but didn't realize till I told him how I feel about the sofits that he has therm too. He has high hat lighting in them, and it does make them look like they belong. Do you like a D shape sink? Which do you have? My sink is on the long side of my countertop , 129 inches, and has an 80 inch window centered above it. I don't like the idea of a faucet in the corner, but think I can adjust since right now I like the D shape better. As for hardware I'm open, want simple brushed nickel knobs for cabinets, and was thinking of cup pulls for drawers, are they traditional? or something else, no idea what I will wind up with. The faucet will be Kohler Valeta, or something similar, any suggestions? . For the floor originally I wanted bamboo strand in a natural. Thought it would blend with my oak floors which I have over the house. Now looking at some laminates I thought were nice, but not sure I can go that route, a lot of thought has to go into it. ilene GC plans on starting March 6....I am glad I'm doing this! ilene...See MoreCold feet after table purchase
Comments (19)I love those placemats- Sign up for email discounts at Pottery Barn. Or Ikea, if you have one nearby, has similar placemats for less so much so that in now wondering if I can do wicker or rattan chairs : D I would think so -- it's all part of a similar style. You might like this Instagram account if you don't know it yet, for Maura Endres who lives in New Jersey. Not entirely British Colonial, but a lot of the elements put together beautifully. She's an amateur but, in my opinion, very gifted at design (and seems like such a nice person to boot), https://www.instagram.com/m.o.endres...See MoreGetting cold feet on our new construction plan! Comments (167)Cpartist do you have a door into your closet or is it just an opening? Sara could you send me a picture? I measured the actual space since they made an error on the concrete footings measurement so I ended up with more house then garage which benefits this closet. The closet at question measures 6’3 1/2” deep and 5’8 1/2” wide. Also at this point the door is centered giving about 18” on either side of the opening. I guess I could do hanging in the back and narrow shelves on the both sides. Or maybe I should have him move the door to allow for the 2’ L shaped hanging? But then the door swing may hit my vanity or bed table....See MoreFlooring for new house, Hallmark brand engineered wood ?
Comments (2)I know how you feel! I'm also going through the search, but have more time than you. To make a choice, you have to establish some criteria that you want or don't want. The top of my list is no Chinese made products, so I'm only looking at USA or Canadian sourced and manufactured engineered wood floors. That really narrows down the list quite a bit for me. I also have dogs and you just have to accept that scratches will happen and you will get some patina. It sounds like you want a lighter color, which should help with the the foot/paw prints. A matte finish is also supposed to show less of that, but I found the matte to be too dull looking for me. I am looking at some with a very light gloss, around 20%, which gives it just a bit of sparkle, but should have some of the benefits of less prints, compared to a high gloss floor....See MoreSJ McCarthy
