Hi Patricia, Here's a pic of my storm door with cranberry trim. The painter painted the wooden part around the storm door Merlot in an attempt to match the cranberry on the storm door. We were trying to make the door and window colors more uniform. Initially, Merlot was too dark but appeared to match because that area is in the shade & it looked ok against cranberry storm door trim but as you'll see in other pics, the Merlot is not flattering and is more purple. Others may, I don't personally recall ever doing that. I have painted ceilings lighter than the walls on occasion, and I have painted the trim in same color as the walls, though with the walls flat and the trim semi-gloss. But I don't recall ever doing it in the combination you mention. I do not object to what you suggest, as long as the trim is semi-gloss and walls and ceiling are flat.

do you have any more photos of your painted cedar walls? i have a cedar house as well, pan abode. I've been questioning painting the walls to brighten it up, I'd love to see more photos of your house and the painting process.

I like the La Paloma gray better as it has some brown in it, making it a warmer tone that I think works better with your brick.
