What do the insides of your cabinets look like?
Comments (16)Thanks everyone for the advice. I didn't mean to suggest that he did not sand the insides at all, because you can tell it has been sanded. It just isn't sealed with anything. It appears to be just sanded plywood. I agree with the person who stated that the HD or Lowes cabinets seem better than what I am dealing with. I have thought the same thing I went there today and he said in all the cabinets he has ever done through the years, he has only been asked to finish the insides of one set. He said we could stain it if WE wanted to but most people don't bother :/ I knew I moved to the sticks, BUT good greif :/ He is in the process of changing a few things on the cabinets as we speak. He will be removing the stiles on the top and bottom of the cabinet you all saw. That will make them a little more functional anyway. He is changing a few drawers, not all. I think he is trying to make me happier, anyway. As to why he did them the way he did in the first place, I guess I will never know. I guess I will look into some of your suggestions for the inside. I am just so tired of dealing with the man at this point. Thanks guys!...See MoreIt's done! It's done!! It's done!!! It's done!!!!
Comments (13)Ah francy, francy.....that's mighty fancy! LOL. I leave the computer for a while and come back and lord love me you finished your apron! I LOVE your pictures....seeing the project makes this forum so much fun. Your sewing area looks very very familar...like my own... threads and "snippits" all over the table, across the floor to the ironing board and back, never mind those I wear on my clothing when I sew. This apron makes me think you should grab some of those scraps, tie them loosely in your hair with a big knot to the front, don that apron and be standing at your lovely stove banging a wooden spoon in a pot when DH arrives home tonight....You could be standing there ala Lucy....saying things like "Now look Ethel, Ricky won't believe me for a minute it took all day to make this thing..... and no housework done. I've got some serious 'splaining to do!"...... If I lived closer I could be your friend Ethel....what a duo we'd make! Now apron one is done.....get on with your "cherry" project! No wait, first go and BUY MORE fabric......only look at the price this time. Budster....See MoreLooking for BATTERY operated under cabinet lighting
Comments (11)I'll look at those ones at Costco. I don't need the light, but I thought it might highlight the dark granite or something. I know the light output won't be all that wonderful, I just want to play up the granite and sell this house. The daisy chain stuff is way over my head and I don't think I have the desire to figure it all out. I would like something I can just slap up there. I'm quite confident that prospective buyers won't even really notice the under cabinet lighting, just that the granite is highlighted. Thanks!...See MoreHey! Comments (35)Newcastle--Yes, I pay the GC's overhead on everything, including cabs. I'm not sure he'll go for me getting my own. Despite tough economic times and a great first few meetings with him this year, he seems to be getting p!ssy about me sourcing my own materials. Why should I pay all the markup when I'm doing all the work to research and find the materials and can order them cheaper than he can get them? Because then he isn't making his $ and won't do my job. I'm not in a great position to be my own GC at this point with the baby, preschooler, busy DH, no experience, etc. Thanks for more info about your guy. Pug--I still think the right gray would look very chic with your cabs. Let us know what you find!...See MoreHU-636189550
