Do you have ideas on what might cause these streaks and spots on AVs?
Comments (5)I thought that was fert. burn, or water burn, like cold water misted on the flowers/plants... then put under growlights and it burns the bloom. IF it is under growlights. I do assume the white stripes is the variety....right? You are talking about the tiny lighter spots on the blooms? Frankly to me, if it is a virus, it is making the bloom look better. But if it screws up the plants, then it is a problem. But I have seen this on Brand NEW violets FROM Optimara, at Lowes, and they water from above....See MoreAny idea what would cause this kind of damage??
Comments (20)There are enzymes that claim to neutralize pet odors from urine. Perhaps one of these was used. Realtors often use ozone generators to eliminate pet and cigarette odors before listing. Absence of odor can be explained. I suspect that if you were to use a wood floor scraper to remove some finish and wood off one of the spots in the foyer, you would get an odor. Nothing you've suggested as possible causes would make those concentrated spots on the floor, especially when the surrounding areas look to be completely unaffected. As I wrote before "Maybe there was a leaky pipe at some point but it didn't cause these stains that are textbook examples of pet stains.". Maybe there's a leaky roof. Maybe there's been leaky windows. These should all be investigated, but with 36 years doing only wood flooring, and being called in to look at all manner of issues, I'd say it's pretty clear to me that these are from pet stains. I disagree with GreenDesigns somewhat. I don't know the pricing of houses in the area but being an hour or so from DC must affect prices. It looks like a cool house and property. Paint color is a poor reason to reject a house since it's easy to change (and most people want to make it their own). The roof looks sketchy but not too hard to replace. The foyer floor would have to be completely replaced, painted or maybe stained really dark. The other floor areas could be evaluated to determine whether furnishing or rugs would hide some of the stains, patch if necessary and refinish. Good luck!...See MoreAny ideas about what may be causing this stem lesion?
Comments (3)Lower stem damage like that is unfortunately a hallmark of Southern Blight, which is a fungal disease. The fact that your lower leaves are starting to fail is consistent with that. If that's the case, it's a goner. In the field, if seen on a plant, the way you save your crop is to quickly get rid of that plant. Now, this plant appears to be in a container, and if you used commercial potting mix, such a fungal infection would be very unlikely because those mixes are usually sterile....See MoreAny idea what might causes these holes in concrete walkway?
Comments (4)Yep I believe Stax got it right. Very predictable when you can see the beetle's backs on the surface when concrete is poured. Take's about 17 years before they pop themselves loose leaving hole behind. Where did they come from and what can be done to prevent it? After concrete is level with forms, run a "jitterbug"across the intire surface to drive beetle backs below surface before trowling. In these times of slam-bam cortractors and lazy labors they add water making concrete easy to trowel. All the beetles and aggerate settle to bottom through the soupy mess so jitterbug isn't needed. That's great, right? Wrong. The beetles and aggerate is supposed to be evenly distrubited from top to bottom to make concrete strong, settling out make;s it weak and prone to cracking....See MoreAnnette Holbrook(z7a)
