Parenting plan + vacation = smooth sailing
Comments (1)thats great, I am sure it will be a lot less stressfull from here on out withe everything spelled out... IMO I think your DH should tell BM that SS will call ever night before bed, and that if SS asks to call any other time you certainly will make sure he does, and that is how it will be when it is DH's time. Then, I flat out wouldn't answer the phone when she calls. Have SS call her bfore bed, and if he asks to call during the day fine too. She sounds really controlling, and it is not fair that you all have to interrupt your time together because she wan't to make her son feel guilty for being with you all..........See MoreBeach house/vacation rental new construction kitchen plan
Comments (16)They're bigger, but still not legible - at least the top one is illegible. Rotag - can you zoom your PDF to fit your monitor screen and then take a screen shot? Then, save the screenshot as a JPG file and post it here? Can you also post specific measurements rather than general? I.e., the width of each window/wall/door/doorway and the distances b/w each window/wall/door/doorway. You do say windows/doors can be moved - any/all of them? I can already tell that most likely your overhang is too shallow - you have plenty of space, so increase the island to 41.5" deep. I also think you need to move the DW & sink over to have more landing space to the right of the sink - you risk splashing water all over the floor as well as knocking things off the counter (like glass!) You could move the DW as far as you can to the left into the corner and then have a 27" cabinet turned 90 degrees on the other side (facing the seats) rather than deadening out the space. It could house seldom-used items or items for the living/dining area....See MoreLooking for feedback on our plan (first level), thank you!
Comments (46)I have to say - we are in a new build with the 'fabulous open plan' and there are parts of it that aren't so fabulous. ;) I personally would prefer the somewhat separate spaces by a land slide. What's with the 'but then you aren't segregated and you can be together'. Are your truly together when you are banging pans and washing dishes and the other person is trying to watch TV? How is that 'together'? I miss having my radio on in the kitchen. I miss being able to say - 'go in the other room with that please'. They ARE in the other room! Ha! Or if someone stops by and you want to chat while the fam is doing something else there really is no place for that. I call the open floor plan 'all for 1 and 1 for all' living. Dh still loves it though.... Anyhow, I know many people love them but I was leery to start and after living here not so much a fan. I wouldn't do it again. Kitchen open to dining I can totally handle, kitchen open to family room I'll pass. Sorry I stepped onto that soap box so easily. :O What I really wanted to say was oh I am glad you like it because I like it for those reasons too and I really love the privacy it affords the master....See MoreBuilding Our First Home - Can't Decide on Builder or Floor Plan
Comments (56)Have you looked at other Wedding venues and tried to pick their brains on all the issues you need to be aware of in setting this plan in motion? Have you considered building with a Bed and Breakfast Inn and make your living quarters part of a house and eventual complex. This is what I am talking about developing a Master Plan. Actually, a Business Plan as well. Get educated on local codes, zoning etc. because there might be areas that simply won’t let you do what you want to do. This is another reason to sit down with an architect and s/he can outline potential issues. Then weave in your personal short term objectives. Start with the end in mind. You may be jumping into the pool at the deep end to start to learn how to swim. It can be done, but you can drown too. Any home should have every bedroom with ensuite bathroom. At some point, you might want a separate home and then this house would be readily converted to a B&B for guests of wedding party members etc. it is an exciting venture but get informed. Meet with people who understand and can help you gain knowledge before you go much further. Hoping to help you avoid costly mistakes. This is not a small endeavor....See Morejoyfulguy
