Comments (18)Thanks, pennydesign. I'd like one bookshelf, I think, or maybe two smaller ones in the room. I do have some books as well as items to display (what *DO* people do with their boxes of cremated pet remains?) The washstand has been my bedside table for years. At some point, moving it & buying a bedside table could be in the cards. For now, I want to live with stuff for a while & see how it goes before major expenditures. I like your mirror idea for the interior side of the bed, the far side I don't think matters as much - you'd only really seeing it from that back corner - so, only when I'm opening & closing that window... I don't have any rag rugs. I re-placed my two rugs that I already had in the room. I have some others (mostly oriental/kilim type rugs) but they're smaller....See MoreHelp - Bedroom Furniture Placement
Comments (9)Thank you call for your comments! I do appreciate them. We've had the bed in between those 2 narrow windows for the longest time now. We really just wanted to a change. It also made watching the TV a bit more difficult with the TV on the side wall like that. Those were our two main reason for wanting to move things around. But you make a good point, Cheryl - about walking all the way around the bed. I moved the furniture we currently have around to see how it would feel and I do not like having to navigate all the way around like that. Suzmtl, the wall of windows faces our covered back desk. Unfortunately, even though it's a west facing window, the covered back deck doesn't let much natural light shine though. And those narrow windows the opposite side of the room don't let much natural light in either. When my children were infants, I appreciated the little dark cocoon feel, but now - not so much :) Also, I tried moving the furniture around that way you suggest - with the bed on that opposite wall and my husband didn't like it. So scratch that. I guess I'm back to the original layout, though I'm still uncertain how the TV is going to play out. Maybe I'll move the smaller/long media table from my son's room into he bedroom in front of the windows instead?? Would this look ok? (Btw, the main entry door doesn't look just like that, but it was the best I could to show the layout)....See Morehiring interior decorator advice
Comments (5)I was very clear about what I wanted (verbally and in-writing) I asked for her to provide suggestions for the list of items I provided. Lamps, rug, etc. and I was under no obligation to purchase these items from anywhere in particular, including from her. I was just wanted a professional to coordinate the items with my current color and style within my home. I agreed to an hourly salary and paid a $500.00 retainer fee upfront that would be refunded in the event that the hourly wage did not exceed the $500.00. I was shocked by the amount of hours she claimed to have worked on making the selections she provided. I was also told her retainer fee was due the fact that she uses very expensive “exclusive” rendering software that only licensed professionals have. However, I did not receive any such rendering and when I asked for some kind of image to show me how the items she suggested would look in my home, she sent me a very generic rendering of rooms that look NOTHING like my home at all…not even the same colors, size, layout, etc. It was very obliviously not my rendering. I mentioned this to her and she told me this was the “remodel” she suggested for my home. I was never considering any kind of remodel and never discussed re-doing the entire layout of my house or adding a huge addition….basically her rendering was a completely different house and she’s claiming she “designed” it especially for me. I asked for light fixtures, rug, pendant, and chairs. That’s it. I emailed her and told her I wasn’t paying her that much for what she provided and I’m waiting for response. Thanks for your response....See MoreHockeymom
