I have open concept with an island with a sink and after reading many threads here I scratched my plan to have clear glass and went with ribbed glass and a lens which spreads the light downward. You’ll need good lighting at the sink. Your inspiration pic has a large skylight and no sink in the island. I would not do a lantern type. Where is your dining room. Would it be the space from where the perspective originates? If it is, you could use a different color/material since there is some space separation with the wall opening. I would also repeat the chosen color/materials in another way in the decor of the DR.

The large stainless won’t produce much light. The teal glass fixture will distort the colors in the room. Return them both. The first of the two lights you are considering is best. It is visually unobtrusive, does not distort the colors in the room, and is a clean simple style that will stand the test of time. The small amount of brass will not clash with other metals in your room. Alternately, if you want to match your metals, here is a suggestion:

Anne- You mean frosted BULBS, not a frosted glass shade, right? I’m not familiar with what cans are exactly but I’m open to learning! I agree on the keeping consistent with metals Maddie- I could definitely check back through my emails and find the maker! So you would suggest staying in the product line family? I wasn’t sure if this was considered “too matchy” (I don‘t know anything about standards for lighting) Grover- Anytime! These are the lengths I must go in order to discourage unsolicited aggressive opinions lol. I hadn’t considered track lighting mostly because I’m not sure what it is- but from what I see on my google search it looks so much better than a flush mount. UGH did I mention I hate the word “flush mount”? In fact I think this is definitely what I’m going to do instead. Provided it’s not impossible to install. So maybe I’ll change my question: how do I mix track lighting fixtures with my pendant?
