Help with Mixing Lighting Fixtures
Comments (2)nostalgia5 - I have the same sort of problem with a 1912 house. Some of the existing fictures are bronze... and since the rooms are very open to one another the fixtures nee to work together (entrace way -> dining -> kitchen...) Hopefully someone out there has some advice for us!...See MoreAnyone mix can lights with traditional fixtures?
Comments (6)A cheaper way of doing undercabinet lights is not to hardwire them, just plug them in. I did that when I moved into my house. I made sure all the wires sat flush to the cabinets underneath, using those little clips they make for tv/internet cable wire. (I don't know if there's a product that would have worked better, but I knew about these clips and knew they were cheap.) I carried the cable clips to right above where the fixtures were to plug in, working along the back of the cabinets, making sure there was just enough wire left to plug in, as I didn't want the backsplash are to look messy. It's not as nice as hardwired lighting, but it looks fine to me, and cost next to nothing. (I used very slim fluorescent fixtures, and they cost less than $30 each. You can also get xenon fixtures that plug in, if you like.)...See Moremixing gold cabinet hardware with silver light fixture
Comments (5)When I chose pulls and knobs for my kitchen I bought a bunch of different styles and colors. The ones that looked the best were not the ones I thought would look best. Actually the pulls we chose I only got because they were marked down....See MoreMixing light fixture finishes
Comments (8)I think they should work well together. They're both more modern in style, and the shiny clear glass works with the shiny metal of the ceiling fan. I tend to like the look of mixed metals in a room or in a larger open-plan space. It makes a home look much more thoughtfully assembled, as if it had been collected over time, rather than as if everything came from the same place at the same time in a big box (or from a big box lol) : ) . Much like the current fashion of not having a matching bedroom furniture suite....See MoreCorinne Masterson
