Help! Living Room Decorating Tips Needed
Comments (33)Thank you everyone. The area is a recessed window so they are also getting some sunlight granted only for a few hours in a day since the next house blocks most of the light. He figures if his electronics get too hot, then he can just open the window and open the patio door and get some airflow, so he loves this set up. I might be able to convince him of sjhokeyfan's idea of a media cabinet with the electronics on top and the wires dangling behind. Then stick all the extra stuff in the cabinet. Magnetic backs sound amazing Tuesday_2008. Thank you for the ideas! I really love technicolor's idea of a larger TV to cover the whole space but we can't hang things in this house. It really is a nightmare when it comes to decorating. No command strips are allowed as they tear off the ultra fine wallpaper. Luckily there have been some hooks already placed and most of the windows already have curtain rods....See MoreHelp arranging living room with diagonal wall, bay window, & fireplace
Comments (3)Here is how I would arrange it. Not having dimension, this is obviously not to scale, but gives you general idea. I'd use round features when possible to eliminate the look of the angled wall. Example: here I used a round rug and chairs. I don't know how much space is in the bay window area or if you need to place a dining table there. But, if so, this is one option of how to fit a dining table in smaller space: scoot it up to the back of the sofa. I also do not have information on what furniture you have, but I would not use 2 sofas as the current owner is showing. I'd use one sofa and a couple of chairs, as show below. Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further....See MoreNeed help with wall to left of fireplace- living room decor
Comments (20)It is a 'real' fireplace..it just has a gas starter which are SOOOO nice for eliminating the messy of getting a wood fire started!! The bottom line is in a room with a fireplace and a TV the seating needs to face both for the room to be used to its fullest. Fireplace/TV side by side is the most aesthetically pleasing positioning. BUT the OP doesn't have that option anymore. When that TV dies I would consider putting a new smaller one to one side or the other. For now a shelf makes the most sense to me. A random light fixture for no purpose seems like a missed opportunity for storage. The added COLOR by Celery, to that space is my personal favorite suggestion. I do not understand half the seating in the room with it's back to the TV/fireplace. This room gives the impression most of the TV watching happens in the kitchen/dining area, Why else the need for such a huge TV with little seating in the actual room?...See MoreNeed ideas - Long living room with wall of windows opposite fireplace
Comments (8)https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/noguchi-living-room/nqrwns Here's a link to lots of living rooms that feature a Noguchi coffee table. Thought you might catch some inspiration for the seating pieces you'll need. Start an ideabook here with your favorites. Consider a chaise lounge and arc lamp for the reading area, and I'd opt for a 3-seat sofa and two armchairs in front of the fireplace. It is easy to get into good looking pieces that are not comfortable when dealing with more modern styles, so be judicious and try before you buy whenever possible....See MoreMichael Menn Ltd.
