My daughter recently re-did her bedroom with similar white-painted furniture (CL finds in 50's French Provincial and Hollywood Regency) and choosing the wall color was definitely an exercise! She initially started by fairly bright colors like most of the posters above have suggested. But then we did some computer research. We pulled images off the internet of rooms she loved, then sorted through them discussing what it was about each one that appealed to her. It turned out that ALL of the rooms she responded to had white walls (like your photo of the bedding.) So we got a stack of Ben moore whites and off-whites, and she chose a beautiful white with just a touch of cool pink to it. it basically rads as white, but not quite so stark. The white walls have allowed the accessories and wall decorations -in darker colors- to be the stars. That may not be the look your daughter's going for, but it might help to pull photos of rooms she likes off the web as inspiration, anyway.

ideefixe thank you for steering me to Delias.com. DD loved the "Starstruck" set. She has decided on turquoise/agua paint and if she really wants the whole room that color, I can live with it. But I'm still going to try for one wall and the rest a lighter shade. Anyways, the only problem. Everything in the set is sold out! It won't be available till Feb for most things. If they don't charge your account till then, I'm okay... but I can't pay for it now and not get it till then. X-mas is right around the corner and if the set doesn't come till Feb - it'll be a b-day present. Now, I'm on the look out for lighting. I really want something like returnqueen has in her DD's room. I did find tons of links about her bedroom as it looks to be quite the popular room right now for tweens. There is a company in the UK that sells the circle decals but I'm not sure about ordering from the UK. Painting them like they did in the RMS room is a good idea too but they did theirs freeform...don't know if I have that steady of a hand. I'll have to fly my Dad out who's a painter. LOL! klb, you'll have to share how yours turns out. We are still in the furniture ordering stage so ours will be a few months. I'd love to compare notes! Lots of good ideas here already, but I don't think this one was mentioned, so I'll toss it on the pile. Desks that slide over a bed. Congratulations on your adoption! Friends of ours adopted an out of country sibling group of four this year, two of them teens. It's been an amazing journey! The kids have been such a wonderful addition to their family. It hasn't been without bumps, but it's been good. I wish you and your son the very best!
