Need help deciding Paint Color!
My husband and I, with our 2 boys moved into our new house a month ago. I desperately want to get rid of the orange paint that is on all the walls in the kitchen, foyer, hallway, dining and living room.
All rooms have "orangey" oak trim and cupboards and I'm not planning to change them anytime soon but I am looking for a paint colour that helps the wood to blend in rather than stand out. I keep going back to "Bleeker Beige" by BM but second guess myself because I am awful at this stuff! I want to have a warm, cozy feel to my house and can't decide on furniture or decor until I get new paint on the walls. I have a painter that can come this month so really want to have a paint colour picked asap. I also need to stick with Benjamin Moore paint as our local store sells it and want to shop local.

Comments (6)The blue might be nice in the kitchen, but for the living room I would choose a warm off-white, although the SW Passive that celerygirl posted is also very nice. If you want a more modern look, consider painting the mantel a white or off-white color and painting the gold inserts black. 5 years agoI saw this in an article and thought of your post. The paints are complimentary to the orangey oak finish on your cabinets. I like your photo inspirations. Benjamin Moore should be able to color match your choice.

try switching your bulbs to something w/a cooler temp. 3500-4000K should be better. try that first before you start picking color samples to try on the wall.
For sure get rid of the bulbs in your kitchen in that boob light (ditto hallway) get a 4000K bulbs for that one. Change that light fixture if you can.
if you can do recessed lighting (with cooler bulbs) it will make all the difference in your kitchen and dining area.
I bet if you change out your lighting (including the ceiling fan) your current wall color won't look half bad.(and whomever did the painting on those walls did a horrible job cutting in the space between the tops of the walls and ceiling. wall color should go up a bit higher so you don't see the white line at the top).
change your lighting first and come back w/new pics for some more paint choices.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agojust for an example, this light offers an LED 4000K, with an equivalent 125Watts. (for the kitchen I'd like at least 200-300 watts though. maybe you could do two of them or find a light with more bulbs)
