What do you think of a stainless steel tile backsplash?
Comments (6)I think that stainless backsplashes tend to work better with a transitional/contemporary/modern kitchens than ones that are described as "a lot more traditional". Having said that, the things you mentioned that you are using: shaker cabinet fronts, espresso stain, and light/white granite/quartzite read to me as more "transitional" than "traditional". And if that's the case, I think that the stainless backsplash will work fine....See MoreGranite Backsplash with Tile BS or just Tile Backsplash???
Comments (6)My granite supplier advised using tile from the granite up (no granite back splash). She could have advised the other way and made a little more money, so I think she advised based on her honest opinion. I also like the "no granite back splash" look better. Just guessing, I'd say the only reason to use the 4" granite back splash would be if you weren't going to use any other back splash at all (a more low-budget option, in my opinion)....See More60" Wolf range--do I "need" a backsplash? I just want paint
Comments (10)I don't have a 60" Wolf but I do have a 36" Caldera gas cooktop. We do a LOT of high heat wok cooking and also have a Miele built in deep fat fryer. We use all of this frequently and have done so for 7 years. We have no backsplash. Only paint on sheetrock. There has been no change at all in the quality of the painted wall since it was installed 7 yrs ago. I have BM Regal Matte paint that is scrubbable after 30 days. I regularly scrub it with a soapy dishcloth. There is no reason that you too can't have a painted backsplash . I have it throughout my kitchen. Here is only one of 100's of pics. You can see more in the albums of you click on the pic. Good Luck .c...See MoreNeed Hood and Backsplash ideas....
Comments (6)Wow! Thanks so much everyone for the wonderful ideas and pictures....so many choices now! I love the open shelves, but I'm wondering if I'm too messy. Since my kitchen and living room are open to each other, how do I keep it neat? I can see myself just putting something decorative on the shelf instead of something useful just to keep it neat. I do have an open plate rack flanked by cabinets with glass doors on the other side of kitchen (not shown in my picutre), and I love it. I think I'll paint first and trying adding the shelves and see how it looks. I agree that sometimes the tile actually makes a space look more cluttered and busy; I'm all about airiness and calmness! I do like the white tile just behind the stove that was suggested though. If the open shelving doesn't work, I could try adding the cabinets. I do love the idea of painting the back of the cabinet...I hadn't thought of that and I could see that working also. I love the suggestion for the multi-step stain on the hood. It does have a flat, unfinished look compared to the rest of the kitchen so I think this idea would transform it! Thanks again...I so appreciate your help!...See MoreMICHAEL HARTMAN
