I think that stainless backsplashes tend to work better with a transitional/contemporary/modern kitchens than ones that are described as "a lot more traditional".

Having said that, the things you mentioned that you are using: shaker cabinet fronts, espresso stain, and light/white granite/quartzite read to me as more "transitional" than "traditional". And if that's the case, I think that the stainless backsplash will work fine.

I didn't meant hat mine were traditional but in comparison to the provided pics mine will be "a lot more traditional than this pic"

I love a stainless steel backsplash, and thought long and hard about a gorgeous woven basketweave one (sorry I don't remember the mfr) for my modern kitchen. I decided against it because in all but bright light, the color reads pretty dark grey. I ended up choosing something much lighter.

We did it to our "transitional" kitchen 3 years ago and love it. I will say that it has been super easy to clean and it still looks like new.

theanimala, is that glass white backsplash in the rest of the kitchen?

I was also wondering if you use grout for stainless steel backsplash or just do it non-grouted?

On my kitchen I don't have anything above the sink, which is against the wall. I was thinking of putting a backsplash of stainless steel above it just like theanimala has.

Anyone have other sugestions?
