Site Stained Nail Down vs Site Stained Glue Down Engineered Hardwood

Hi All,

My original plan is to use site stained nail down hardwood at 2 1/4" wide but my builder said it's not a good idea and they said I should go with an alternative site stained glue down engineered hardwood that's offered in 3", 5", 7". Below is exact quote that was said. Is nail down hardwood that bad? What would you choose?

“The nail down custom stain woods are not being recommended due to the environmental issues that we have in their houses because of the tight building envelope with humidity and outside air intake fluctuations, we are seeing way more seasonal gapping and cupping. Nail down is much more susceptible to environmental factors than dimensionally stable La Madera.

So it was decided a couple of weeks ago, that we could offer a “site finished option” rather than a nail down floor. Plus it would help with building consistency with regards to stairs. Most people aren’t asking for nail down anymore.”

Thanks in advance!
